The S-grades algorithm for ARAM is confusing as hell.

I once played a game as Ezreal where I had really good KDA (luck in champ select), barely 5 or so deaths, certainly over 15 kills, many assists since I was barely dead and still got just A+.

Just now I played as Ryze with 14/10/29 which isn't impressive at all except for the assists which also aren't impressive since it was long game and it was S-.

I realize it compares with results from other players (which is already dumb because you might play against bunch of hard-counters and get compared to someone who might've went 20/0 because they had perfect comp), but I think both Ez and Ryze are quite easy to play in ARAM, yet I somehow had to try less with Ryze. Much much much much much less.

Now here's the thing. 102 minions and 18k gold doesn't sound impressive on its own, but I certainly cleared minions more as Ryze than Ez. I suspect Riot legit just copy-pasted the algorithm from Summoner Rift and you get S grades easier by just having strong waveclear in very long game.

The algorithm just confuses the shit out of me.

CS for some reason matters.

I had near 100% kill participation on Nami one game with few deaths, and got an A+ simply because I had little CS.

Same thing happened on Corki today. Good luck trying to CS with a Sivir on your team.

Riot really needs to break this down sicne I've done horrible as a tank and yet get an A+ and then go rampaging with an ap main or even a sona/Raka tons of kills/assists/low deaths/tons of healing etc and get lucky to get a B or an A.

Yet I see same champs with same or worse scores get S or S+. One thing I wonder about is does it count it by rank for same champ or not. Because if you're being ranked against someone way higher up, especially if they're in a premade then you get screwed.

I'm pretty sure there isn't a separate algorithm for Aram. You actually have to play then champion in a normal game and earn your chest.

There's definitely a separate algorithm for ARAM. Otherwise, there'd be high grades every game, since gold income is massively higher compared to SR.

This is just a hypothetical, but I wonder if new player free rotation (that don't actually rotate I just don't know what else to call them) champs and other cheap champs are overall easier to get good grades on compared to others.

Not because those champs are graded differently, but rather because I hear low mmr ARAM has loads of bots just grinding xp, and they're presumably just running down mid on the champs they have available. If they're fresh accounts with almost nothing available, that'd mean that they'd be dragging down the average performances on those free/cheap champs, making decent grades somewhat easier to get for actual human players who have some idea what they're doing.

Also ryze is kinda weird since people are really good at being really bad at him. Plenty of people who literally button mash instead of comboing, and plenty more people who use try to use their ult offensively and get themselves(/team) killed because of it. If you fundamentally understand you should be trying to combo stuff with ryze, and/or avoid using your ult basically at all, then you're probably already ahead of the curve.

I like waiting for one of my team member to be cc'd, and then throwing my team-mate inside their team with the ult

You'd get along well with some bard mains I know.
