Does Anyone Actually Like The New HUD?

I find it funny that people down there are getting downvoted for saying it's great. And when they also think throwing a giant uproar is going to fix it because, "The majority is complaining about it." The complainers are always the loudest. And they'll attack almost anyone that disagrees (minus OP and maybe one other as of this comment.) Just don't get it. Give it some time, look at the pro's WITH the cons instead of just ignoring the pro's all together, and base it off of there. I'm played 9 games (6 ARAM, 2 normal, 1 custom) and taking out the custom because it was just me and a friend, I've heard... 10 people complain about the hud? Out of 72 people. 7.2% result so far, so... It's fine then?

Nathalee9 votes

Just because They didn't complain in game about it doesn't mean they like the new hud. I hate the new hud and won't even play because it's too infuriating and frustrating, but if I were in game I wouldnt waste time talking about anything that doesn't impact us winning.

Jari5 votes

Well, I could say the same thing back, that they didn't say anything, so they might like it. That's the point. They aren't complaining, so it's not bothering them. They're clearly still playing, so it's not bothering them. You don't have to look at the new HUD as a gift of god or a pile of crap. There's middle ground, that, "I don't really care it does the same for me," type of people.

And plus, people who like the new HUD are more likely to not talk about it, as hey, they like it let's use it. That's why the negative responses sound like the majority to people, because the ones that do like it are out there playing it.

That's the point. You can't make "they didn't complain because they said nothing" as a valid point. Same as vice versa.

It's just like when they changed the shop. It was hard to get used to it, but it was a great change overall.

Wait, what... How is 10 out of 72 equal to 7,2%? It's more like 13-14%.

I was thinking the same thing. The new hud is better than the old. Its just not as fancy, so people riot. Smh and ppl wonder why rito doesnt look at the boards

I like it as well - i just dont like the new Stats-Window or better, i hate the fact they removed the old detailed one. :<

i mean i like then again boards tend to hate anything. Kinda like how people constantly talk about how great the 90's where

Stacona16 votes

90s were awesome

TotalJerk15 votes

The 90s are like Sonic Adventure 2. Most of it sucked and people only remember the good parts.

Stacona1 votes

pretty sure sonic adventure 1 came out in 2000 - sonic adventure 2 definitely came out in the 2000s; dreamcast and gamecube games

a lot of sht happened in the 90s - and better to remember the good rather than remembering the bad which happens now

TotalJerk8 votes

I didn't say Sonic Adventure 2 was a 90s game, I was just comparing it to the 90s

Stacona18 votes

Based on PBE it was less than 5% of the population liked the new HUD - over 90% hated it, and like 5% were neutral --- it feels the same feedback happened on LIVE but with multiple millions upon millions of people rather than a few 10,000s

DrNova4 votes

yeah cause you know millions of people hate it. Stop talking now.

No, I love it. Riot has done a spectacular job with It :)

It look gorgeous. It's the OS X Yosemite of League HUDs

I do. The screen isn't cluttered anymore. Stats may be a bit small but you can scroll over to read it and after a few minutes with it I got use to knowing which is which. I like how the team icons are neatly packed with the map so when I need to check the map I can see the status of my team. If I need to watch my team's health I can glance over and see the map as well, it increases my map awareness because everything is near the map.

Also like how my champion exp is now packed with my hp and mana, along with my skills. Idk it's pretty neat, people just gotta get use to it. Some people just don't like change.

Durzaka11 votes

Yep, I like it.

There are minor problems (character stats too small in particular) but overall its great.

Rabid Husky9 votes

i like this hud its sleek its stylish there's like 5 less menus now and i feel like i get the same information if not a touch more constantly and people don't seem to realize if you click the helmet near your champ portrait it toggles stats and ctrl f gives the ping and frames so can someone explain what the issue is with the hud other than its new?

Learnding9 votes
  • Took me about 16 games to finally realize where my minions and kills were.

  • Took me about another 25 games to realize Ctrl+F was to show my ping, instead of an option to show it.

  • Finally found out now character stats are in a little box with shitty icons that have nothing to do with the stat to begin with, so I have to hightlight each stat to know what it is. The box looks like it was made in MS paint then glazed

  • Tab is a clusterfuck of pictures and numbers

  • Instead of dragon count being how it was before, they replaced the interesting system of highlighting bars on the dragon's face to represent the number of dragon kills, to just a number and a icon.

  • Character portraits are stacked on the mini-map with little to no organization. Seems like they were just thrown on there for the hell of it.

  • The timer is in the mini-map at size 1 arial font

  • I have to click C to even see my stats anymore? Why wasn't this a basic feature, I constantly keep and eye on my stats, now instead of doing that, I have to see every single stat my character has, instead of the crucial ones.

Yeah it was a pretty drastic downgrade.

I genuinely hope that the new HUD is either completely reverted or simply given as a selectable option between the old one and the new one. The new HUD condenses too much of the screen into the bottom and the right side of the screen which I personally find uncomfortable. It would be cool if there was a way to keep the new graphic designs of the new changes while keeping the layout of the old HUD like the way it looks currently for ranked matches. A somewhat, hopeful idea that I have come across is giving the players an option to somehow move the HUD pieces into a customized layout but I understand that it would probably be more work than its worth to implement... The new TAB features aren't bad though!

AMYS GRAVE8 votes

There are good things in the new hud, a lot of features we have been asking for and the like, but they rushed it out and ignored the PBE feedback. In particular that several things were harder to see and that we didn't like things all bunched up in one corner. If they had waited one more patch and listened to feedback they would have made a product that everyone could be hyped about.

BootyTownHall8 votes

I have not talked to one person who likes the new hud, I thought it was just me but its not, I really hope they bring the old one back or make a compromise some how, my main problem is the placement of items on screen, also its hard to read your stats.

Kip Killagin7 votes

Nope, new hud god awful

Tidecaller Nami7 votes

It's awful because they took all the useful information the old one had and then they moved it into awkward and hard to see places and then they said "joob well dun"

Wheatloaf6 votes

People are generally more likely to publicly voice discontent than content, because when you're unhappy, you like finding other unhappy people, but when you're happy, everyone else can go f*** themselves because you're having a good time and that's all that matters. This has been skewing peoples' view of popular opinion for longer than the internet has been around. You can't really blame them, though, because all the evidence they have to go on is a bunch of angry people yelling at someone. All the happy people are at home eating ice cream.

I like the death timer, everything else can go

I really don't enjoy it. It's too complicated. Why overcomplicate a window that shows your stats? What is wrong with having something simple and quick to look at? Why did it change? To me, they're just trying to keep up with dota.

Alebord6 votes

The Hud look nice but isn't pratical. Not because i'm not used to it but more like the size of numbers and the places.

GuldenDraak90006 votes

I don't like it. Given a choice, I'd use the old one.

OperationDEEZ16 votes

I would, if it weren't for some glaring issues. Everything is crammed on the bottom right. And almost 1/3 of the screen (the left) remains almost completely unused. The portraits are too damn small. The scoreboard is so many levels of bad. Your team will either be on the left or the right, as opposed to always being on top, and again, IT'S TOO DAMN SMALL.

MalzHarHar6 votes

NO! I'm literally giving up this game after 3+ years. Like why wouldn't you give an option to allow the old UI to people who preferred the old version?

Ganjii6 votes

I don't want to get used to this. The shop change was ok, but this totally changed the entire look. The thing that pisses me off the most is that Riot doesn't even ask the community their opinion. They just go ahead and change shit and don't even put the option to use the classic HUD in settings. I've been playing this game since beta and this is really upsetting. They may have ruined it for me.

It does some things right and a few things wrong. Overall, I'll get used to the change pretty easily.

Still wish the ping notification would either show your ping without mousing over or not be at the edge of the screen, making me roll the camera if I want to check my ping.

Looks awful, I hate how my champ's statistics are shown, but there's so much valuable info in the bottom right of the screen.

kurthl33t3 votes

I like it overall. I just wish certain parts of it were larger and easier to read, like ally health, or my items. Also the blue level-up buttons for abilities don't pop visually, so I'll occasionally not notice that I've leveled. But I'm already glancing at the lower right corner for death timers instead of hitting tab. :D And the ability to rearrange the champs in tab is AWESOME.

Hawkefire2 votes

A fair amount of people like the new HUD. The problem is a fair amount of people also don't like it, and honestly neither party should be ignored.

Riot really should implement the option to customize the HUD and allow people to move things around to tailor to the players wants and needs.

There really isn't a reason for them to NOT have the ability to create a (more or less) fully customize-able HUD.

The only reasons I can think of are:

Cost (This is just a cop-out, seriously a company with the large income and significant manpower that Riot has, the cost should be little more than a drop from the ocean of cash that Riot earns)

Optimization Issues (This would indicate that there are some pretty severe flaws in the game engine if it were to be true, and irregardless these flaws should be fixed)

Lack of Skill in the programming department (This is possible but I think it is unlikely)

IDontShareToast2 votes

I don't find anything wrong with it except the team score. It is so tinyXD.

NemeBro2 votes

I am okay with it.

I don't particularly like it, but it doesn't really bother me.

Scrimshäw2 votes

it simply is shit. it feels like the hud is ready to fall apart, the current one feels like it's solid and mended to the borders of the game. new one is just.. terrible.

BlunterMonk2 votes

I really like it. My favorite feature is having enemy death timers on the screen.

Scarlet Shaman2 votes

+1 for this, I really like it too and I think some of the new design choices are REALLY clever and useful. Of course it's hard to adapt to such a huge change, but I think it was a great direction to go.

NightBandit2 votes

Hud is just sleeker and smaller thats good because when you are on red side you are looking to the top right and sometime the old HUD blocks the farm so it harder to cs bot lane

Overall 7/10

GhostCadillac2 votes

It definitely has some room for improvement, but I must say... after not really liking it the first time I saw it... I think I'm more used to it now. So in general...

  1. I think it's a really nice idea, but it could definitely use some improvements and

  2. I think it's about getting used to it.

EDIT: I like it.

For a game that has a meta that's changing often, new champs and items are released, and champs are getting reworked rapidly, this community cant handle change for their lives. Give it a few months and people will adapt to it. I like the HUD though. Looks a lot more current with the new rift.
