is vel'koz still good?

i haven't played him since his change, and to be honest have no clue what the change even did.

i liked to play him support, mid, and sometimes top(just to be a dick and ruin the lane for some poor melee)

what exactly was changed about him, and is he still viable in bot and mid?

inb4 immobile. swaggy velkoz players use mad angles to land them skillshots

Velkoz is better than before. If I were to sum up velkoz's rework in one sentence, I would desribe it as basically converting some of his magic damage into more true damage. 42.5% of His w and e AP scaling were converted (lost) into 50% (gained) ap scaling true damage to his passive. His ult AP scaling increased to 125% from 60% and if you proc your passive, they become researched and ulting a researched target deals full true damage. The ult base damage went down a bit. The ult at full channel applies 3 stacks of his passive instead of 5.

well i played him. got an irelia mid who just q'd onto me and fucked me every time.

then nasus asked me to lane swap since he had akali top, and i got hardcore towerdived post 6 to get gibbed in2 shots. fuck velkoz.

In both of those situations I'd hold on to my E and dump it under them the second they dodge. Follow up with a W-Q and pull back until your E is back from CD. Also, rush Rilay's.

That's ironic. Irelia and alkali are easy to handle as VELKOZ in my opinion. They're both melee and if they try to get to you, just use e.

He's a bit stronger than he was before, but he's harder to play and more reliant on landing full combos. Definitely still worth picking.

He's actually even stronger than before. Basically he just does more true damage and has higher AP ratios. So he benefits from deathcap a lot more than before, and doesn't need magic pen as much. But he's still basically the same champ, just you want to cast your basic abilites before you ult in a teamfight.

He's good, falls off at higher ranks due to inconsistency IMO but that's not anything new. He's got more damage potential than before.

He is rougthly the ssame as befor, with still similar strengths and weaknesses and the same playstyle.

WHat changed in short: Q gets a longer slow, W and E have much lower ap ratio, ther his passive and ult scale better, so more focus on landing combos for the passive proc and less profit from landing W or E without the passive, which doesn't change much as you wanted to combo with old vel already. His ult has a bit less base damage and only applies 3 passive procs over the full duration, but higher scaleing and it deals truedamage on target that recently got the passive proc. So his ult on it's own or as followup on a single Q is weaker, but as followup on a combo it is stronger.
