jayce and other 2+ year old champs are still 6300 ip

cupcaker··86 votes·4,198 views

and he's been out since BEFORE i started playing this game (mid season 3)

runes still have an IP wall on them too.

i get riot's gotta have incentive to keep people playing, but damn 9 cdr seals shouldn't cost me 7200 IP

jayce, zyra, rengar, diana, khazix, and elise should DEFINITELY NOT cost 6300 ip either

Permanment Champion discounts occur whenever a new champion gets released.

Kind of a slow system, tbh...

They make money off it and at least its a schedule instead of random.

New stuff comes in, old stuff gets discounted. Just like most retail

Depends on how slow champions are coming out.

ModCaptainMårvelous1 votes

When it was revealed we assumed it would be much faster because the original champ release schedule was liker 1 every two weeks. Season 2 was full of so much bullshit and S3 too. It only really slowed down to the pace we have today.

Battlecast Sona1 votes

better than before when the price drops were "Whenever Riot feels like it". Now at least you can watch champions get cheaper, even if it is reaaaaaallllyy slow.

It used to be fine when they released 10+ champions a year. Now tough, it's a very poor system with the 4-5 champions released every year. The discount should be changed to be every few months instead of new champion release imo.

Dr Poro1 votes

With the current system, the amount of 6300 champs is stable while the cheaper champion pool increases. What you suggest would cause the 6300 pool to dissapear in a few years.

Remember that less champs per year means that you have to spend less IP on new features and more to spend on older ones. Remakes of champions are basically a free new champ for everyone that owns them.

Too bad Jayce is in a super rotten state right now. :c

I personally don't have a problem with the prices of the champs but I agree that runes are over priced. I mean what's the point of making them expensive? Like players can lose simply because they don't own runes. like that's not showing me they're worse if they wanted to spend IP on a champ over runes, skill shouldn't depend on how much IP you spent on runes, Runes should work more like masteries. Especially now since riot has added more reason to use IP like upgrading your mastery level (champ shards).

I think there have a good place because they allow player to do what they want with them but they shouldn't cost IP, I just spaces the power of the newcomers to the veterans, me having a bonus 20 ap doesn't make me a more skilled player than someone who hasn't finished a rune page because they spent IP on a new champ to play. The skill comes from how you made your rune page, sure there's not right answer for rune pages but we know what makes a rune page good or bad. A few strong bonuses instead of a minuscule amount for too many bonuses.

TL;DR runes shouldn't cost IP it should work more like masteries

now rune pages I honestly don't mind those cost IP

TTK Dreadnought2 votes

Yea, but they do have T2 runes at 1Ip each now.

Glyph wise, 9 T2 CD runes is 6.03% CD while T3 CD is 7.47%, 8.28AP in T2, ad 10.71 in T3.

At least the values arent too far off.

Cubíx3 votes

Ya'know when I made this little rant I completely forgot about T2 runes. I still feel like tiers shouldn't exist, because from a certain stand-point why do runes that are worst then the one everyone normally use exist? other than price. plus runes and masteries are blocked per level anyway so whats the point of not letting them get a rune per level until 30 and then they can do whatever they want?

Any runes pre-T3 are honestly a noob-trap.

yeah 1 ip T2 runes that are only slightly worse than T3 are such a noob trap. All these noobs wasting their hard earned ip on t2 runes when they could be getting champs and t3 runes.

You get them all for practically nothing.

It's not a waste of ip. It might be a noob trap if they think they can keep them for ranked though.

are you trolling me? My whole point was that it was only 1 ip. The sarcasm in my post was extremely obvious. If it wasn't obvious I would have been downvoted like the guy I replied to.

Indeed. You get them for practically nothing. But that is the problem. They shouldn't even have a cost whatsoever, "practically nothing" is still more than nothing. And don't even get me started on the travesty of T3 runes.

DarkRitual1 votes

It was at least less of a trap back when the combiner still existed.

EROTIC RAID BOSS1 votes

no it isn't. tier 2 runes are 1 IP each lmao. not buying t2 runes as you level up because of bad advice is the real trap

Battlecast Sona1 votes

you can now use T2 runes for 1ip a rune to replace spending tons of IP on runes. You get partial benefits (so you're not "naked" or "runeless"), but you can start saving IP to get champs more easily.

It's much better than before.

DarkRitual6 votes

Jayce is next in line. He will be price dropped at the next champion release. It goes down the line by release date.

Whenever the next champion is ready to be released. There is no official timeline, they are out when they are ready to release them.

yup i joined back when Elise was first released, it just feels so long ago.

Your compelling reasoning as to why they shouldn't cost 6300 is very captivating. /s

You can't post stuff like this then expect people to rally to your cause without an explanation as to why. Otherwise someone else can argue; why should they have paid those prices for those champions and you get to pay less because you started playing more recently?

Serpents Embrace2 votes

What the hell are you using CDR seals for

PaladinNO2 votes

Probably the same reason why I got 3x quints of revival: just something to waste some IP on.

Serpents Embrace1 votes

Fair. I started out with a "Gotta Catch 'Em All" mentality on runes. Now I use maybe 25% of what I've bought.

Not sure what that indicates about game balance/health, though...

PaladinNO1 votes

Not sure what that indicates about game balance/health, though...

Certain things does indeed speak for themselves...

I got 35 different types of runes, with 20 filled runepages, totalling 150109 IP spent on the stuff (runepages included)...and yet I find myself defaulting these days to approximately 5 pages. The gold per 10-seals were useful...back in season 4 or thereabout, but completely redundant now. And I've never even tried my revival quints (well, perhaps in a few AI games, but I didn't really notice anything).

The current usefulness of some AR/scaling AR and MR/scaling MR runes I guess (hope) still goes without saying, but honestly, the few runes I personally find the most useful (depending on preferred champions and playstyle, I guess) are MS quints (truly (truly, truly) my best investment ever), some mana regen seals/glyphs and some CDR glyphs. Primarily for my beloved purple main, Lulu.

That still leaves some 80% of all my runes to rate more or less as "meh" in terms of their usefulness.

That said, scaling energy regen runes in the Howling Abyss - the place I consider my second home (even the weather there is what I usually see out the window) - feels kinda wurf. Or even if they're not really that useful, then just purely for their "lulz" value. Or at the very least, something to waste some more IP on.

Serpents Embrace1 votes

Same here. I don't even have all my Rune Pages filled out, because I pretty much only use three or four of the fourteen or so I've got filled out. And a lot of times, the variations are tiny. The same page with different quints, usually. Do I want the Movement Speed I usually use, or can I afford to bring more AP or MPen? Do I want Flat AD or Armor Pen for this champ? The marks/seals/glyphs are virtually the same on every page.

CDR runes are something they should especially consider just refunding everyone for because it's such a common item stat now I'm building 50% core on some champions just because I get 10% from every item I would normally build on them, why would I need any extra from runes?

PaladinNO1 votes

Snip

CDR is such a common item stat now

That is a very good point, actually.

As I play Lulu mostly as a top mage with item 3001 , item 3165 , item 3157 and the Intelligence mastery (with item 3116 , item 3020 and item 3027 for default full build) and, well, whadda'ya know? 45% CDR just there, with only 3 items, leaving the CDR runes to be almost completely useless even fairly early in the game.

BRB, need to edit my Lulu runepage.

Isnt khazic a little cheaper now?

still 6300

Jetjoe1 votes

Oh well, I guess alot of the 6300 champions are pretty strong too, Like khazic is so hard to kill because he can just hop the fuck away every few seconds, hes got good damage. Rengar is also cool although In my opinion he sucks, hes only good if your team lets him get fed. Diana is ridiculously broken, her shield takes/saves so much damage, and she does insane amounts of base burst damage

Zyra also does a ton of damage, and her plants are like heimerdingers turrets, but faster attack speed, more damage, stronger targeting ability.

Jayce is also pretty strong too.

i didnt know people were having ip problems.. haha ive been playing too long clearly.. as i keep atleast 10k all the time it seems.

I've got about 1300 ATM but I have what I wanted so I really don't pay attention to my IP lol.

I've been playing for a year now. I've been playing a lot of games and buy a noticeable amount of champions with RP. I have a single viable rune page and own maybe half the champs. I have like 300 IP right now. Everything is so hard to get, and I know they do it to make people buy RP, but at a certain point it makes the game boring and people refuse to buy more RP. Like, ive bought all the champs i REALLY want already. Im not spending anymore RP on champs, and i only have half the champions. It's going to take me another two years just to buy them all at this rate. I dont understand why they all have to be so expensive. By all means make new champs 7300 or 7800 or whatever. But why are super old champions still 6300?

Hrkk Ptoo1 votes

I've been playing since beginning of season 3 and still need 30+ champs and only have 5 Rune pages.

Solari Fortune1 votes

Well as new champs come in those champs will drop down a price tier

Troll for Trump1 votes

The thing is, there are people that have a ridiculously large stockpile of IP,and that's what keeps the champ's IP prices high, so they potentially have something to money sink into, and don't keep getting rich. Rune pages are another IP sink, and soon, some part of the Hextech/Champ Mastery system will be another IP sink.

Those that don't have a ton of IP can still afford it, but it's a lot more grindier to get it.

PaladinNO1 votes

And with every champion, 20 filled runepages and a 135.000 IP left over, what is there to buy? They talked about random champion tokens as an IP sink, but from a personal view, I fail to see the point.

I wouldn't mind seeing an outrageous [ Taric ] IP price tag on skins, say, 20x the RP cost. Would still make them out of reach for most players, but for those with excess IP, it would be a nice treat.

Troll for Trump1 votes

That would be nice, but RIot needs money somehow, and they've done so without putting any pressure on the players, with cosmetics as their only source of income(and Hextech).

I feel that the high Ip costs on runes can also be attributed to the affluent players.

At least they don't have champions locked behind pure RP

Saianna1 votes

i get riot's gotta have incentive to keep people paying

FIFY

Expensive champions = takes longer to collect ip = you get annoyed = use RP instead = Riot "wins"

PaladinNO1 votes

You know which champion is scheduled to go down a price tier with the release of the next champion? Gee, I think it's someone called "The Defender of Tomorrow".

Have a cigar.

http://oi65.tinypic.com/xqo3.jpg

And Elise was given out for free in season 3 - with skin.

WaterTribe1 votes

It's basically business. You want to spend IP on runes and champions but you NEED runes. Which means you're basically struggling to save IP which means players are more likely to buy champions with RP (I know I did). It's a free game that needs to make money and I think this is an excellent business model.

What I would change is the whole tier 1 and 2 runes. Just delete them, they are useless and replace it with only the current tier 3 runes. They can then make the runes cheaper for those who have less runes, for example Quints cost like 1000 ip, so for the first quint you buy (of the same name) it costs 550 IP and the second costs 800 IP and the last is 1000 IP. Prices can be adjusted.

SanKakU1 votes

You shouldn't be buying CDR Seals anyway. Not as much bang for your rune slot as Glyphs or Quints. But yeah, I'm annoyed that runes and rune pages in particular are so expensive.

dunkeroni1 votes

Cost isn't actually a measure of how new they are. Riot also bases champion cost on how "unique" they feel that champion is compared to others.

Itz Rewind Time1 votes

In your examples, all of those are high skill cap champs. Generally, the higher the skill cap, the higher the price.
