Ivern & Damage Dealt to Champions
In all games with Ivern, both played and witnessed: his damage dealt to champions is extremely low seemingly regardless of build. Like similar to a support Janna with only tank items low.
I'm not saying anything about whether or not this is good or bad; but I would be grateful if anyone could point out how this is not the case, and if Ivern is able to deliver more significant damage over the course of the match - How is that achieved?
Even junglers that tend to eschew any and every damage item in favor of a full tank build tend to provide greater damage presence in late team fights simply by having long life and kits that provide constant damage usually to multiple targets (zac, sejuani, etc) and those named and those similar tend to have kits that apply a reasonable level of burst simply based on ability damage at lower levels.
Furthermore, even assuming there is a composition that favors Ivern building for greater damage: the projection of his kit is slow. His root skillshot moves slowly even compared to the very similar Dark Binding (
), the planting of a bush followed by AA windup is not instantaneous, his trigger seed shield has a built-in windup time, & daisy really isn't that great at sticking to targets nor very quick with auto attacks. With these things in mind; it doesn't seem possible for Ivern to be a significant contributor to damage vs champions.
Before you say, "Well no, OP, he's supposed to do no damage. He's a support jungler. Your mom." Yeah - I get it. But as it stands I don't think I've seen any jungler succeed that simultaneously: is not inherently durable, cannot burst, cannot provide significant sustained damage. Whether or not this matters, whether or not its just a matter of compositions adjusting to Ivern's strengths; are moot. I'm simply asking whether or not my experience of Ivern maintaining a bottom placing for damage vs champs has been a universal experience.
PS: All things considered Ivern seems to be an immediate success at frustrating enemy junglers into trolling failure with his 2-second, low risk, enemy camp steals.
