Are you impressed or disappointed with the new champion mastery?

So i have to say I'm pretty disappointed with the new champion mastery roll out. Its more like a secret acknowledgment that only you can see saying your awesome and you know it. I would have much rather seen something more like a ranked leader board where people can compete to hold the highest ranking with that champ against others with your kda and gold earned weighed in on each game to show who is the best at that champ in the region.

Not sure why they didn't make Chroma packs a champion mastery reward. As of now Mastery feels completely pointless. Plus the fact that you can't lose points make the ranking arbitrary, everybody is going to be at max rank just because they played the champion a lot.

I think they want to avoid their playerbase weaponizing Champion Rank against each other.

"Grade D Zed, wtf you idiot quit life."

Etc.

Riot doesn't wanna make the bad people quit league by showing them a mastery rank they cant achieve, its disappointing that Riot would limit what champion mastery is capable of, instead of making it a Level showing how much you played champion, make it show how well you do with each champion...

Disappointed. The grades don't always appear to make sense, and the "level of mastery" is just an indicator of how many games you've played as that champion. That's not mastery; that's grinding. Also, did Riot decide not to tie in chromas with champion mastery, or are they waiting to make more chromas before implementing them into the system?

The ranks are nice, but I don't really care about that. I just like the ranking system at the end of the match.

My new goal is to figure out what on earth has to be done to get an S rank.

I think they made it for the purpose of self-improvement. You can track how well you're doing with each champion you play and find out what you're best at.

For me the issue isn't that it's something for you and your team, it's that it's too easy to get. It's not super easy, but it's definitely not hard so I don't feel like it says I'm awesome when I see it, it's like a secret acknowledgement that you don't suck at the champ as bad as you could ha.

As for having a ranked ladder for champ skill I guess that could be cool, but it would be kinda boring. You wouldn't have the ranking metrics per game like you get now, and honestly it would just be champ win percentage on over 15-20 games or something modified by MMR. Like a challenger player w/ a 50% win rate over 30 games on a champ is obviously better than a bronze player with 100% win rate over 30 games (although if you can always win w/ a champ why are you still in bronze lol) because the quality of opponents is higher. However maybe a Diamond player with an 80% win rate is better than a master player with a 53% win rate on the same champ, and is just not as good at other champs? So it would petty much be like ladder, except then win percentage with in the tier on a particular champ would be used to rank I suppose, and maybe if you had a really high or low (like x>70, x<30) win rate on the champ over enough games to tell it would drop or raise you over the people one rank above you. Still seems like it would be boring since it would be so similar to regular ladder unless you're like 90% wins on one champ and lose all your games on other roles/champs.

"your kda and gold earned" But neither of those things have anything to do with how well you play a champ. You know?

Happy with it and excited for its potential. Kinda disappointed Chromas aren't with it.
