Is it Viktor that needs nerfing or the build?

So, I am baffled by this Viktor nerf. I dont get how he can go from being a ridiculously weak champion for the last 2 seasons, and hardly seen in pro play, to be insta-nerfed as he's picked toplane (vs Melee range champs). The Riot balance team must've had a bad solo q game vs him. Surely it's the items that's making him busted. Viktor has been in a trash tier spot for ages, and now you're nerfing him even further? I understand top lane Viktor is obnoxious vs Bruisers, but seriously? Midlane is still a rough spot for him. I think he's a pretty cool rewarding champ to be able to play at a high level. But hey, let's take 5 movespeed off of irelia, not nerf Akali (obviously money making as her new skin is coming out this patch).

This is really sad.

Oh yeah, let's buff Zoe too. Next Azir will be nerfed as well.

The build needs nerf but did you not actually look at what exactly was nerfed?

They nerf the base damages while buffing their AP ratios which is pretty much how you nerf a bruiser build. They're less useful if you're not building more AP.

You honestly can't tell me these changes are bad.

As Ahpe said, the nerfs were directed more on his base damage whilst his Ap ratio got increased. Viktor's basically punished for not building a single AP item, since Tank Viktor top rushes IBG over his Hex Core builds.

Read the changes again. Nerf to his base damage while buffing his ratios which will make up for base stat lost for those who build him AP, and nerf this cancer tank build.

As a Viktor main I agree with you. I don't enjoy this top lane build either but I'm not sure these nerfs will change it that much, what they should've hit was the mana scaling on the Q in return for AP scaling, since the top lane build is really mana focused where as mid lane Viktor rarely builds any extra mana outside of Lich Bane.

Making his early game even worse just to trash a top lane build seems rather harsh considering how early game focused the game is.
