it exists only to punish support players.
It eats up a whole item slot where useful things could go. It gives like 150 health. It costs 800 gold (You're not getting money as support) . And you forced to buy it as support because your lazy ass team doesn't want to share the ward burden.
I love support but I hate people wanting me to get this sh*t over expensive item.
It's not that expensive though. Saves a lot more than buying wards.
It's not very expensive. The majority of the time you can get it on your first recall. It becomes very gold efficient as the game progresses, because without it the role of a support would be to keep buying Green wards, but with it they just replenish.
As for taking up a slot, well, that is being solved (more or less). Come preseason, the base Sightstone will be able to combine with any tier 2 gold item if you don't' want to upgrade to the tier 3 gold item.
You get the health, the refilling wards with 4-5 per recall which is more than enough, and you get to have the red scanner with it. Even if everyone else helped out with warding(which in high elo they do), you'd still want to get it because both the wards and red scanner.
I'll presume you weren't around when there was no sightstone and the Support had to juggle money between sight wards and support items?
It has been a really good while since the last time I could genuinely say that Supports were gold starved.
