Wait. No, I don't know why I put that in there. Fizz (unless I'm just wrong and so confused) has never been able to input a seperate ability command between Playful/Trickster. I think I've filled up alot of head room on recent Lissandra discussions and that probably spilled over into my Fizz thoughts. Disregard me please haha.
*Edit
Specifically, the old set up worked 1 of 2 ways. This is what I was trying to get to. You would either activate your Trident, and q in, putting yourself behind the enemy. Auto attack, and then Playful back to the other side of the enemy. If they didn't juke, you wouldn't Trickster, you'd drop Playful on the spot and if lvl6 ult. Or, if positioning suited this senario better, you would pop an enemy ability with Playful, then Trickster ontop of them or ideally behind them. Then, you would q through them placing yourself back on your side of the lane and back where you started, to repeat the harass or simply all in if they don't react appropriately.
I've fought against alot of Fizz. At first my experiances vs Fizz were usually after he got fed and roamed down bot or up top to wreck people. I didn't really like it much. Even when I learned how not to keep falling for his tactics, my allies would still end up being blown up and me and our top laner would just have to play patty-cake with our turret until respawn. Then I started to mid more often and laned against him.
It was laning against him I learned alot about how to deal with and counter him. Usually for me, it's playing a champ that teaches me best how to beat them. If I get good with a new champ, and I get beat (not because I'm newb with the champ) I just learned for myself a viable way to beat said champ. Ie, the way said champ just beat me as said, said champ. I said that.
But for Fizz, playing as him taught me some more about him but it wasn't the chunk or soul of my experiances with him. I'm adequate with him, but I think that's because of his kit and not my playstyle which he does not suit. Free for all mode taught me that. But vs him in Lane I got to see Fizz at lvl1. I got to see how he builds, how he grew, how he and when he chose to engage. I figured out early lane harass and bully, cs denial, delaying his sheen, caused him alot of trouble.
I learned now to blow my entire load in his face the second he got close enough to whisper in my ear. Yi taught me that too. I learned to hold my load until he made the first move, and figured out most of his no counter play mechanics involved mind games with his opponent rather then mechanically being superior.
With the changes they've made to his how he sets up his combos, I believe he is perfect. Inuendo's aside let me close my statement by saying this:
You say his dash could use more range. I say the way Fizz is now, is like prebuffnerf Ahri. You want to initiate with your Charm/Chum. This is your psuedo DFG and makes the rest of your dmg to this marked champ amplified. Chum creates a devastating slow field on the target, which, should give you all the opportunity you are looking for to dash in. Before you would ult at the end of your combo, needing to initiate with your q or your playful/trickster. This is not the problem anymore as you ideally want to initiate with your best form of CC, garunteeing almost you can dash in and combo away.
