Silver. Clusterfuck of people of so many different skill levels. One game you can trust your team, next they disappoint you more than I've disappointed my father.

One day, I won every game, had amazing team work. Next day, I lost nearly every game, team kept arguing, had a Nami jungle...

Each is bad in its own way.

Bronze: Rock Bottom - Very weak mechanics, next to no teamplay, toxicity usually just comes from 1 player while the rest are either silent or being nice because they are new to the game. Wards are non-existant. Easy to 1-Man Carry out of. If you're stuck here, you kinda deserve it to some extent. You've got a long way to go.

Silver: Hell - Toxic above all else. Mechanics have improved, teamplay has not. Cooperation is non-existant. Higher abundance of trolls & smurfs. Very difficult to 1-Man Carry, as your teammates will spend more time typing than following your leadership. If you're stuck here, I don't blame you. It's kinda the equivalent of Death Mountain in Zelda 2.

Gold: Oasis in the Desert - Much more relaxed than Silver. Mechanics are even better, teamplay is becoming a thing, people are warding a lot, and flaming isn't as intense. Trolls and smurfs aren't usually found here. If you're suck here, you're basically just taking a breather. You've just destroyed the first Death Star, and Yoda is training you for the fight ahead.

Platinum: Purgatory - Imagine Silver, except people can kick your ass much harder. Personal mechanics are pretty much perfected, yet teamplay has gone to shit again. Flaming is up, smurfs are up, and trolls are up. However, people are usually on an even playing field in terms of skill. Warding is also greater. If you're stuck here, I don't blame you. Just keep trying, and you'll eventually get to Heaven.

Diamond: Senior Year - This is basically a repeat of Gold, except more challenging. Teamplay, warding, and mechanics are all up, while flaming, smurfing, and trolling are all down (but not out, just a warning). If you're stuck here, be proud of yourself. You've accomplished what the large majority of the playerbase cannot.

Masters: Graduation - You've basically mastered the game, and are rotating in-and-out of Challenger/Diamond.

Challenger: Full Time Job - Yes, you're the best in the region, but you gotta keep playing or else you're gonna get kicked out.

Sasogwa2/15/2016, 7:25:03 PM7 votes

Challenger, people tryhard too much it's impossible to win except if you're really super good and playing the meta champions. Boring. The most wtf division would be, apart from low bronze ofc, plat 5. There is everything there, from boosted ppl to ppl that main a champion but have garbage game knowledge, the opposite (good game knowledge, garbage mechanics), ppl that got carried randomly, ppl that haven't played for a while.

Maximum Morde2/15/2016, 7:23:27 PM6 votes

Whichever one my friend is in at the time. He's the most toxic little shit I know.

SeargentAnus2/15/2016, 6:45:09 PM6 votes

Bronze is fun. You can just use item 3512 everygame, and win due to spitpush pressure.

Virgin Ray2/15/2016, 6:29:50 PM5 votes

Ranked in general is toxic. Just play premade 5s so you can enjoy ranked.

arcinex2/15/2016, 7:16:47 PM5 votes

Gold 1 & Plat 4/5. Ever seen teammates play their 30% win ratio champions on a consistent basis? Ever have teammates already calling it quits before minions spawn? Ever seen your teammates face check deep in the enemy jungle 40 minutes into the game? Ever have teammates that are clearly boosted?

Rito Lore Team2/15/2016, 7:11:16 PM4 votes

It is 100% Silver/Gold. You have people who think they are much better than what they actually are and typically are the most likely to blame others for losses. And while you may argue that pretty much every division has people who are like that, I would counter that notion by stating that these are divisions on the precipice of being considered "good." Silver is the precipice of getting the rewards at the end of the season while Gold is the precipice of entering into Plat which can be considered to be much better than the average. You have people who are here, struggling with hundreds of games played without much movement, essentially Silver/Gold are the ELO doldrums.

GEMS GEMS GEMS2/15/2016, 6:41:28 PM4 votes

Bronze players generally have more experience than Silver players. The placement system is made to cater to new players and make them feel good about themselves by even placing some of the most toxic players in Silver. After that they drop down to Bronze and have hundreds of games in league while many Silver players have barely any.

KillerPenguins2/15/2016, 8:25:17 PM3 votes

It doesn't matter which division you're in, anything V will be the worst because it's half people who are climbing and salty and half people who are immune from dropping. It's terrible.

Allahu Barackbar2/15/2016, 6:41:37 PM3 votes

I myself despise all of the Rings of Elo Hell; each Ring has a unique aspect that makes them their own form of psychological and emotional torture!

Whenever I played Solo Queue, I felt like Dante from Dante's Inferno, with every Promotion Series being the Boss for that Ring of Elo Hell, my fellow players as the hordes of demons I must contest with, and my desired Ranking being my wife, who I desperately try to save, but she is yoinked from my arms every time I am within reach.

A pretty good analogy, no~?

TNHA Baritone2/15/2016, 7:03:45 PM3 votes

Each division has it's ups and downs in communication and skill level. I had a good (short) time in Bronze, and I didn't experience all the gruesome horrors that people describe (until I hit silver). I was Platinum in preseason and it was actually pretty cool (except I did experience more toxicity based on mistakes such as not grouping) but that's better than pointless toxicity

Rito Lore Team2/15/2016, 7:24:36 PM3 votes

I understand that the statistics are there stating that Gold is way above the average but it is the mentality of how good a Gold player is vs a Diamond or Plat that causes them to think of it as the average. For example, many times people will insult you if you are below their division. Diamond > Plat > Gold > Silver > Bronze. The only people who aren't overtly toxic to others typically end up in Master/Challenger. Gold and silver see themselves at the near bottom of the ELO totem pole.

Remlap12232/15/2016, 7:32:27 PM3 votes

Silver is FUBAR. That is truly ELO hell. I don't know what it is about it that I get some players that deserve challenjour there, and people who actually probably are challenger smurfs. Seriously. The skill fluctuations there baffle me.

Bronze sucks, but people there are so brain dead in terms of properly playing this game, that you can literally just farm them to death. You don't even have to play doge, seriously, you could play AP Janna and just outfarm them, and proceed to wreck their team because they're too busy dinking around trying to start a teamfight.

BluePolarizer2/15/2016, 8:02:24 PM3 votes

Plat in general but definitely plat 1 and plat 5 in particular.

Huge variety of people: people who were boosted/carried by diamond 1 friends, low plats/golds duoing with high plats/diamonds, toxics who are good but mentally ff if they die once, one trick ponies who instalock the same champ every game in any role, people who have amazing mechanics but have the strategy of a mosquito, people who have strategy like Napoleon but the mechanics of a paralyzed guy playing with touchpad, etc.

In plat 1 I had a 0-5 Jarvan top take blue while I was ganking bot because he "needed mana". That says it all.

Mysticman892/15/2016, 8:41:18 PM3 votes

Those are tiers rather than divisions in the poll strictly speaking. The worst division is X 5 regardless of the X, since it has people from the entire skill range of (X-1) 4 up to actual X 5.

As for the worst tier...Probably silver. Bronze you can at least rely on yourself to get fed so you can try to carry (assuming you're not actually bronze material), and even if you can't quite carry the feeders, you can at least go down fighting.

Silver on the other hand, is a mishmash of first time ranked people who are actually bronze 5 material but haven't finished placements/fallen that far yet, legitimate silvers who are very eh, and people who belong in much higher tiers doing their fresh climb up.

YouPoro2/16/2016, 4:52:48 AM2 votes

I wish you guys experienced games in diamond, first blood generally means you lost lane possibly the game if its punished hard enough and then they afk "open mid." Also to the people stuck in bronze I recently leveled a smurf and went ap soraka mid..until silver then upgraded to alistar top until gold not trashing you guys but cmon y'all are killing me T___T believe in yourselves.

Rito Lore Team2/15/2016, 7:29:13 PM2 votes

And btw, it is incredibly easy to climb divisions if you have a positive attitude. However, it is the people who don't self-reflect and blame others who don't climb. Which is why I would argue that Diamond+ is where most of the kind players end up, they understand the game better and by extension typically don't blame the player as much.

Dukues2/16/2016, 3:10:16 PM1 votes

Silver, specifically low silver. Now you have really bad players who think their ok because they are silver. Silver still has the low elo hell aspect combined with the highest population of players in mid to late season. It is also where most plat or gold new smurf accounts land. So each game there will be some generally good players, sometimes horrible players, and then average players. Gets to be a real clusterfuck.

At least in bronze you can assume your team is bad and realize you have to carry and the game is going to have a team death match aspect to it. The farther you get in silver the better players get on average and although not great it can be a little harder to carry. Silver 2 is the worst of the worst in my biased opinion.

Restless Slumber2/16/2016, 3:54:07 PM1 votes

Probably silver or plat. I've played with plenty of players from all divisions but master and challenger and these 2 are by far my least favorite. Silver players are terrible and flame and plat is a mess of different forms of skill with some players that honestly I don't know how they're plat.

5050BS2/16/2016, 3:55:23 PM1 votes

I would say the LCS because riot stupidly is balancing the game around it.

Yep Balance a game around .03% of the players

TonsOfGains2/16/2016, 3:59:53 PM1 votes

Plat. Full of pompous, egotistical players who think they actually got somewhere, lol.

Lugg2/16/2016, 4:06:57 PM1 votes

Bronze hands down. There are so many trolls it's ridiculous. They have nothing to lose since you can't drop any lower.

-The level of fun is actually in the negatives at this point. -Level of toxic is off the chart -Trolling, see above. -Difficulty is actually harder than Diamond. I have played enough games with Diamond players to be able to say this. At least the Diamond guys don't die 5 times in the first 5 minutes making a fed champ that can't be killed. -Definition of ELO hell. Even pro players have said Bronze is stupid hard to get out of.

ggigotfed5/5/2017, 10:02:49 AM1 votes

Gold.

In bronze it's fresh players who are testing the waters of ranked, understandable.

Silver, okay they're getting more competitive, maybe some bad calls and weak laning champs but that's why they're silver.

Gold, you have no reason to be this fucking stupid. STOP GOING IN YOU'RE BEHIND!

Plat, 50/50 if you get a good plat, or a boosted account.

Diamond, you're in the promise land.

Anything higher is beyond my comprehension.

KVbqbFsC8e5/5/2017, 10:05:30 AM1 votes

Probably Plat in my experience. I've never been Bronze before, so I can't comment on it even though alot of people think its the worst. But in Plat I see so many absolute trash players that make me wonder how the hell they ever reached Plat.

This is a good topic, but I would say that GOLD is, by far, the worst Elo to play in. I've never played in Diamond or above so I can't tell you, but sweet, feathery Jesus is Gold frustrating.

Level of Fun: 2/10 - Every once in awhile there's a really good game where everyone plays at a decent skill level, but those can be counted on one hand every month.

Level of Toxicity: 8/10 - Gold is ten times as toxic as Bronze or Silver. There are several reasons for this, not the least of which being that many gold players are MMR boosted accounts to get the free border/special skins/etc. As a result of MMR boosted accounts and the fact that some people just get way too complacent, Gold has the most mismatched games you'll generally see and this leads to a pretty toxic environment.

You know how many people will say that Silver has that guy that always promises he'll "carry" on an off-meta pick or claim "I main Ahri, I'll carry", well imagine that you have at least two of these assholes on your team EVERY single game. Yep.

Level of Trolling: 4/10 - Trolling isn't quite as bad as it is in Silver/Bronze, but the difference is that in Bronze there are players that just don't know how to build their champion properly and so it may appear to be a troll. In Gold, however, players should know the basics of what to do and yet you will still see the occasional top laner building damage despite being 3 kills and 50 cs behind or the slightly fed Fizz trying to 1v4 in Dragon pit. This isn't neccessarily "trolling", but it's pretty stupid and gives the appearance of trolling.

Again, there are the off-meta hero types that make crazy picks (always in my promos) and swear that they went 22-1 in their last game as Sona top, but in my game they go 1/8 and rage quit.

Level of Difficulty: 7/10 - Games get sideways often and it's either an easy win or a horrendous loss, not much room in-between. Now that Rift-Herald is a thing, the team that gets ahead, stays ahead and it's nearly impossible to come back. On the other hand, if you're ahead most teams don't generally throw as much as they do in Bronze or Silver.

Level of True and Total Despair in Elo Hell: 9/10 - I'd much rather play in Silver or Bronze than Gold or Plat, period.

IM SILVER V XDDDD

LeftyRaydy11/30/2018, 6:26:58 PM1 votes

Any Division 5. They are either too complacent to move up. got lucky and finally got there and its hard to go back a division, or they are boosted (obviously not Bronze 5). Usually in 3-1 it does seem like you do get teamates closer to your skill, but then you get back to the 5's and it starts all over again.

Owltears2/16/2016, 12:46:07 AM1 votes

In my opinion though Bronze has a lot of people who rage, are toxic, flame ,feed etc, there is also a lot of good players who get held back because of the other said players, leavers, and AFKS. This makes the good players upset at their denied higher ranking and renews the cycle of hate/toxicity.

Almost any rank above Bronze is bad, yes people play good, coordinate better, etc...But if I am to be made fun of/yelled at for not being ranked/bronze/silver and they mess up and blame me or my lower rank teammates it's the worst. I've had matches even in ARAM with plat players and they DC because two or three people are not gold+ on my team or because they "dont want to play with low elo" and it's VERY sad. I've had NORMAL non ranked games with gold+ and they rage because the bronze/silver/whatever messed up once; almost as bad as Bronze people do.
