So can anyone explain this to me?

So I went up against a Malz in my last game, as Cassio, and found myself scratching my head by the end of it. I decided to take Cleanse, thinking it might be ok to counter his ult. During the game he got his ult off on me 5 times and the results where as went as follows...

1--Could not cleanse died in the ult 2--Was able to immediately cleanse and start fighting back 3--Could not cleanse died in the ult

The other two times I ulted right as he ulted and it went as follows...

1--He continued to channel the ult inspite of having the animation of turning to stone and taking the damage, resulting in me dieing. 2--He continued his channel animation but the beam between the two of us broke. Inspite of this I still could not move or cast spells and died anyway.

I don't play with or against the champ all that much so I really don't know which of these interactions are suppose to be happening but coming out of the game I have zero idea what to make of the game.

Well you can't cleanse malz's ult, it's been like that since his release I think. That said even if you were to use QSS on it you would still get the damage since it's just a damage over time applied to you (so it's not dependant on wheter you get hit by the full animation or not). Even when Malzahar gets cc'ed out of his ult the damage will still aplly on the target so your ult as cassio should've just saved you from the cc. Fo the last 2 times I don't really know what to say to you, still as long as his ult starts you take the full damage from it no matter what so even if you could move you would've probably died anyway.

idek if ur supposed to be able to cleanse his ult since it technically is a debuff but its only a damage over time and a suppress idk how the interactions work and the reason it glitches like that is probably cuz riot didnt think of that either?

Cleanse doesn't work against Malz ult at all. Quicksilver Sash has been the only way to escape for years.

That sounds....really odd

There was a time in aram where I was being ulted by a Malz and something knocked me back, and the ult continued channeling even though i was way out of range by whatever knocked me back. Not sure if that means anything

Cleanse does not, and has never been able to, remove suppressions.

If his ultimate was cancelled, then it is likely that he mis-clicked at some point and cancelled the ultimate by himself.

If you want to remove his ultimate from yourself, then you need Quicksilver Sash.

Cleanse definitely needs to see a buff, in its current state it's pretty much useless against different kinds of cc like surpression (see Malz, Skarner and WW) and knockups.

It's too bad the only item that can deal with those things is limited to ad-champs (QSS). As if those weren't overpowered enough.
