Improvement Not Rewarded

Elo Hell exists and is very demoralizing for people who become better. There isn't a way to raise your MMR once it plummets to very low levels. LP gains are minimal, losses are max.

win 8 ranked games in a row + lose 2 = 0 LP

It doesn't help that every time I go on a win streak, I get some completely noob fuck that goes 1/15 and another game some completely noob fuck goes 0/18. For the most part, I have to carry teams just to get a win.

Lost 8 of my 10 placement matches. B5, ok. Was B5 with a record of 8 wins and 47 losses.

Clearly I deserved to be in B5 cause that's a 17% win ratio.

THEN: 9 win streak. 7 win streak. 8 win streak. 10 win streak. 6 win streak. 3 win streak. 6 win streak.

LolKing score from -50 something to now being +71 NA.OP.GG. went from top 100% to top 92%

Starting at that 1st win streak of 9, that would make my record 49 wins and 9 losses.

My record now is 57 wins and 56 losses. My losses are rare now. That's a 51% win ratio with incredible hot streaks. Only to have progessed halted by 2 or 3 losses? Where is the logic in this? Is this really what it means to be in elo hell?

I just want to let RIOT know, "FUCK YOU! YOUR RANKING SYSTEM IS BROKEN! IMPROVEMENT IS NOT REWARDED!" The noobs stay noob forever because ELO is a real thing.

Guess I'll just put the game down and try again in season 6.

You tanked your MMR in Season 4. You currently have 42 more losses than wins and while compression may have helped you a little, you are still very far away from a global 50% win rate.

I'm not going to ask what you did in Season 4, but most of your current woes come from past mistakes. New seasons reset the rankings but do not reset MMR.

Season 4 went so horribly wrong because MonkeyKing was my answer to everything. Keep in mind I was still new to LoL. I reached ranked in about the last 2 days of season 3, then season 4 started. Which I actually started out in S3. Then I went Wukong nuts.

It's clear that it is almost a guaranteed win when I use Yorick in season 4. But he's just not as fun as MonkeyKing or Quinn.

Need a top lane, the answer is tanky item 3083 MonkeyKing Mid lane? item 3156 MonkeyKing Best jungler, duh.... item 3074 MonkeyKing Support, hell yeah item 3302 MonkeyKing can support ADC? Everybody knows item 3046 MonkeyKing gets shit done assassin style.

As you can see, I probably have the lowest win rate with Wukong of all the champs I play regularly, but I have significantly more matches played as him. Why? Because Wukong is fun to use.

Even this Season it's clear I should be using Udyr Pantheon Jax Diana Sejuani if I really plan on getting those 40 wins. As you can see a lot of my matches are still played with MonkeyKing and Quinn .

Bottom line, they're just fun to use. The only champs I can lose or play a bad game with and still have fun.

But this high LP losses and low LP gains just aren't fun!

time to explain MMR, MMR dictates how much LP you get at the end of every game.

your MMR is affected by each and every single game you play. your MMR stays with you forever.

you have different MMRs for each queue type you play in, someone who played ranked his entire life and is diamond 5, suddenly he wants to play aram, this player is now considered "new" and will be grouped in with other new people to aram.

When you win a game your MMR goes up, when you lose a game your MMR goes down.

when your MMR value is higher than where you currently are you will gain more LP per win, and you will lose less LP per loss. this is because on average you are performing better than the rest of the people around you so riot is trying to get you out.

when your MMR value is lower than where you are currently playing you will gain less LP per win and you will lose more LP per loss. this is because riot thinks you are performing worse than the rest of the people around you and they're trying to lower you into a better suited spot.

basically, "elo hell" occurs when you have a very low MMR as a result of a longstanding low win/loss rate. regardless of your current seasons wins or losses it seems you cant rank up. but unfortunately "when you are on a great streak" you're really just accounting for all the previous games you've lost.

TL:DR dont look at your current seasons win/loss, look at all of the games you've ever played. if you have been playing trashy for years you need to play an equal number of games in the other direction to raise your MMR value to start climbing again.

Edit - i checked op.gg it said you had an MMR of 336 or 360 ish, you are currently playing at around 800 MMR level, what this means is that if you played consistently at the 800 MMR level with a 50-50 win rate you would eventually match 800MMR after 140 games there.

(you do gain more MMR points if you consistently play at a higher MMR)

RE - Edit

if you consistently stomp and win against lower MMR players your MMR will go up, you will be placed with better players and if you also perform there you will also gain even more MMR per win. (i looked at your account and if you were to constantly win non stop you would need to go about 40+ in a row and you would correct yourself to the point where you would start to gain the average 13LP per win/loss in either direction)

its just a question of "how many games have you fed" "how many do you now need to carry"

Are you still in Bronze 5 or are you out? You would have to lose 2/3 series games in order to still be in Bronze 5. Also you gain 15+ LP per game so the 9 game streak is 15x9=135. So you were in your series and won at least two games if you were at 0 LP. So either your lying, you managed to lose right after entering Bronze 4, or you didn't state that you went to a new league.

B4 now. But every loss is equivalent to the LP of 3 - 4 wins. Doesn't matter how many games I win.
