Ekko's weakness.

No sarcasm. Here is what i notice. If you catch him with a gank, his pants are down, and any damage you get on him will stick. The way to gank him is to force him to back. Hes squishy and has no sustain. His shield takes 3 seconds to charge anf thus he has no way pre-6 to escape or turn.

That being said, a 300 range dash is kind of tough to take down in a short lane though with lb and zed in the meta, i'm sure you junglers have some ideas. Past that, Ekko struggles against people who can poke him down. Treat him like Tryndamere, get too close and he will all-in, if you are ahead, poke him down until he burns ult or backs.

The problem with this is that the entire goal with playing against Ekko as his laner is to avoid interaction with him, unless you are a jungler or tank. I'd honestly like to play the Ahri matchup on him. Cc and dashes to avert his damage, and sticking potential if he misses his shots. For junglers, i think wukong is ideal. For bot lane, Braum messes up Ekkos W and Q and the braum stack should remain post-ult. From top lane, maokai, hecarim, Singed, Vlad, and Riven will mess up his day by midgame or sooner.

Best of luck!

Additions...Jayce, Malz, others with good waveclear/seige.

Jayce does well against him too. He knock him back if he gets close, and just auto attack.

{quoted}

You don't have to run a full siege comp for Jayce to work, though. A lot of siege mids can be smacked in just about any comp because they aren't terribly weak at any one point in the game.

I would imagine Galio ruins him, too. Malz could probably work as long as you shoot first.

Got a post from Yenn, a longtime player. Definitely worth discussing.

{quoted}

I can't think of any mid champion that can lose to Ekko, unless they misplay really badly.

Melee disadvantage + no anti-harass (sustain, more reliable shield, etc.) + not AD (can't build life steal) makes it impossible to CS in lane, against most champions. Even if you don't kill him, you can easily force him to recall and miss out on a lot of CS, putting you ahead.

The minion wave will rarely be in his favor, because his clear is weak and expensive. Most enemy mids will have stronger clear and some mana sustain.

The real problem is that his kit is built around KSing. His damage is incredibly low unless you're already at low health, and relying on movement speed to disengage is countered by any form of CC plus slows, which most champions have. His stun may as well not exist; you have to not be paying attention to get hit by it.

I played against an Ahri yesterday and she beat me in lane. 2 kills 50 cs up. But i roamed bot got a double. I just don't like that he can come back so easily.

I'm glad to see someone rationally handling a new champion and sharing that knowledge.

He can't ult if he's rooted I think.

UMMMMM his biggest counter is probs lissandra. He gets close snared she can keep up with the waveclear and such. Ult him if hes low and mayeb u can finish him before he ults

I sort of thiink he is a weak laner. He has huge mana issues. I play him in the jungle more than anything and i like it. I usually get one successful gank before teamfights. It is during teamfights that he really becomes useful. His ability to provide two utility spells, splash dmg from ludens, and then clean up with his passives make him strong. That is where he snowballs. Not in lane unless you fuck up.

Pretty much anyone with range and/or a slow who can kite. Let me tell you ashe is a bitch.

Sidestep the Q. Like holy damn people don't even bother to dodge that thing even though it chunks like hell.

Chespin20135/30/2015, 1:23:15 PM1 votes

I do have some concerns that between flash's cooldown (300 seconds) and Ekko's ult cooldown 110/90/70 that Ekko may be a little too safe once people get more experience on him. I actually don't think Lichbane is a good idea on Ekko. I would prefer Luden's to bring Ekko in line waveclear-wise and then maybe a Zhonyas. With Zhonya, enemy champions cannot collapse onto you because it lasts 2.5 seconds, meaning your ghost is very near you and thus, your immense aoe magic damage heal is in position to make a play. Plus, because it has a 90 second cd, Ekko has a lot of get out of jail free cards. His itemization as an ap assassin gives him quite a number of options. Its too early to make judgement calls, but I am trying to get a big picture. Any thoughts?

Almost everything beats Ekko in mid lane, unless you play poorly.

The Blue Rajah5/30/2015, 10:48:16 PM1 votes

Karma does pretty well against him. Dodge his Q's and predict where he's putting the stun, and then use your root and shield to counterattack when he dives you. With the speed boost and the root you can avoid him proccing his passive, and guarantee a good Q of your own (mantra it for massive damage!), meaning you basically always outtrade him. Also a mantra W gives you way more sustain than him in lane.

Mantra W if you've got your jungler coming for a disgusting morgana-level root that basically ensures a kill.

Don't stand next to his clone post-6

Just pick whoever you use to beat Yasuo and you should be fine, they have similar weaknesses.

Had a game agasint an Ekko that went 0/5 15 minutes into the game but got a triple in the next fight around 18 minutes. (their enemy bot was a combined 2/4 at that time too.) You can kill him, but you cant keep him down.

Borbland5/30/2015, 9:54:53 AM1 votes

Veigar is a great counter. He dashed on me, I ulted him and he's gone.

Since he build pure AP for his Lich Bane and his really big ratios, he'll get oneshotted 99% of the time late in the game (When he's really strong)

He can dodge the ult with his ult, but not when hes stunned.

Else, a Banshee does the trick pretty well, and dodging his Q reduces heavily his damage.
