I just had a thought - How come the client doesn't save your rune/mastery choices per champion, rather than automatically picking the last one you used?
It can't be that hard to do and would be rather convenient.

There is this other game I play (World of Tanks) where the game dev (Wargaming) allows community developed mods to be used with their game. Through the community's work we have mods that allow us to automatically transfer entire crews, equipment etc to each tank. Sort of what you describe. A mod like this would save your info locally in your HD and whenever you load into champion select it automatically selects whatever Rune page you last had with that champion, along with Skin, Summoner Spells, and possibly Wards.
For all the fairness that Riot is, they seem to be very closed about their client and game. They don't allow camera mods or other UI mods or client mods to let you view other info.
