Role Select w/ Autofill is Pick vs. Call all over again

I'm sure those of us who have been here a while remember the huge disputes that arose from pick order vs. call order in the earlier seasons, and the large amount of forum debates and discussions over which one was 'right.' Eventually, people settled on pick order because pick order was the order people actually chose their champions and a pick-order player had the ability to force the issue while all a call player could do was dodge. Role Selection tried to solve this issue by giving people the roles they wanted. This came with its own problems, especially with queue times because while you need one of each role per team not all roles are equally desirable - You might have 3-4 mid players for every support. People complained very loudly about the increased queue times, so Riot tried to fix that with autofill.

Now we're back to pick vs. call. Only this time, you call your role with the role selection and the game picks what role you actually get instead of you calling a role in chat and the team's pick order determining who gets which role. It's pretty amazing - In trying to appease the community's ever-shifting complaints Riot has developed a system that is effectively identical to the old system, just with an increased sense of player entitlement because people have gone from hoping they get their role to expecting to get their role and now it's proving difficult to get them to go back.

As someone who's seen all three systems now - Pick/Call, Role Select, and now Role Select w/ Autofill - it's amazing how far we haven't come, isn't it?
