So I've Noticed Something (SoloQ Vs. DynQ)
Let me preface this by saying I've been a League player for a long time and I've been lurking on the boards, and the forums before them, for years. And this season's experiment with Dynamic Queue has revealed something noteworthy.
The complaints never go away, they just change shape.
Remember when the forums were swamped with complaints about 'Elo Hell' and about how the matchmaker was an utter troll at times? I certainly do. They were probably the most common, most frequent posts on the boards apart from the 'OMG NERF X' posts. While 'most common thread type' has been lost to image memes (Hello Laughing Fish) we now have a slew of complaints about Dynamic Queue, how 'skill doesn't matter' and 'premades ruin everything.' But to me, the old-timer, I just read these as the same 'Elo Hell exists' (Many of which even said some variant of 'Skill doesn't matter') and 'Matchmaker puts me against diamonds' (Often because they were a premade duo) threads of the Solo Queue days. It's the forums' new cause célèbre. But as much as it looks like something different, and as much as many people believe it's something different (because there are different elements to it, notably 4-man premades), it's really just the same old thing with a new coat of paint.
Let the downvotes commence.
