Introduce a new mechanic to replace the assassins' silences, taken from Smite: cripple. Simply put, it's a silence that only affects movement abilities, from things like Flash to Lee Sin's Resonating Strike. This would allow assassins to stick to their target, while letting said target trade back. It would also possibly bring more play to the more immobile mid laners that we barely see anymore to try and trade back without having too many abilities affected by the cripple. EDIT: To clarify, it's basically lesser silence that only affects movement abilities (NOT RIGHT CLICK)

You may as well just make it a short root, in my opinion. Selectively disabling only some abilities on some champions is really confusing. Are only teleports disabled? What about grabbing a lantern? Speed boosts? Would it stop the movement, interrupt, or completely disable Urgot Shen and TF's ultimates? The peculiarities of just "sort of silencing" is too complicated, and a short root accomplishes everything with no explanation required.

YAY everyone is agreeing with me! But in all seriousness why hasn't this been implemented. Gives Assassins some edge while arrowing the knee of mobility creep. Two birds with one stone Riot, two birds with one stone.

That sounds actually like a quite cool idea,it would also help a lot as a counter to the current mobility creep that is happening.

It could be indicated with an icon above the head with some kind of crossed out foot. However what about abilities that give mobility and something else?Like Dravens W?Could he still cast it to get the attack speed,or would he be unable to cast it at all?

The only problem I see with that is,that it would affect some champs more than others, with it having no effect on certain champs(aside from their summoner spells)

NO, that idea is dumb. just remove the silence and give no comp. it's THAT OP.

On the same idea, a mechanic who disable only the possibility of using an active on an item would be great to counter zhonya and other item without being as powerfull as silence

YES.

Adding this would provide a counter to the mobility creep, allow assassins to stick to their target, while allowing their target time to react.

I don't see why anyone honestly think assassins need any hard CC (or ability denying CC).

As far as I know, that is exactly why silence was removed. Because you couldn't escape.

You are supposed to bait out those abilities now.

i would honestly be fine if they replaced the silences with same thing they did for kassadin where he interrupts toggles but that's just me I'm no game designer i just think it would add an extra layer of mechanics

or maybe I'm just pissed about Katarina being so dominant in solo queue as of lately and want more interrupts as communication is horrible in solo queue

It would help assassins a lot I think, I'm okay with this

Regardless of the difficulty of implementing this type of CC and figuring out how it interacts with all the skills affected by it, I think it would be amazing. To me there is a large difference between being rooted for a short time and still being able to move but not being able to use dashes or blinks. It would create really intense mechanical scenarios in mid lane between mages and assassins and would give mages one way of dealing with assassins without having Riot gut the assassins completely (like most assassin mini reworks have done up to now i.e Leblanc, Kassadin, Talon).
