Isn't veigar's stun an objectively better thresh ult?

It has about the same area, it's walls don't dissappear, it stuns instead of slows, you can place it from range, and it's on a basic ability. Yeah it doesn't do damage, but then there's the rest of veigar's kit.

Comparing abilities in a vacuum without referencing the kit around them is ridiculous..

Anonagon11/1/2016, 7:03:40 PM15 votes

Veigar's stun is incredibly strong for a basic ability, and The Box is incredibly weak for an ultimate ability, mainly because Riot decided to continually nerf The Box when Thresh was a problem, despite it being his weakest ability.

Threshs other abilities work with his ult though since he could pull or push people to other edges

Bladerunner777711/1/2016, 8:46:55 PM5 votes

It's not about individual abilities

It's how those abilities interact with the rest of their kit

That's why saying things such as "this new champion is just a combination of X, Y, and Z" is not a valid argument

By that logic, isn't Zilean's stun an objectively better Thresh Ult? Or Ekko's. Or Viktor's.

A Superb Villain11/1/2016, 8:08:47 PM4 votes

And yet Thresh still sees more competitive play.

Athenes Lulu11/1/2016, 8:13:08 PM3 votes

I mean, Thresh isn't exactly reliant on his ult, so that's also that...

His ult just gives him more CC so he can engage into teamfights.

Though to answer your question, yes.

Everyone here seems very Eager to forget the Massive Delay on viegars Dark Matter

RisenDarkKnight11/2/2016, 12:51:12 AM3 votes

I really wouldn't ignore thresh ult damage it's quite high since it scales off his souls and has decent base damage. (it also has a 100% AP ratio, but most threshes only get AP from souls).

Papa Slothy11/2/2016, 5:23:08 AM2 votes

thresh's wall damage is insane and comparing them is useless because they are 2 vastly different champions

The Deckowner11/1/2016, 7:31:50 PM2 votes

veigar's E is his only meaning of existance early and mid game, it is given to him so he isn't completely useless until mid late game.

Kled Man Walking11/2/2016, 6:13:25 PM2 votes

you don't pick thresh for his ult

i agree that it's a lackluster ability, especially when compared to veigar e, but that doesn't mean veigar needs to get nerfed (as a veigar player i feel that he's in a really good spot balance-wise atm) it means that thresh needs a better ult

CerealBoxOfDoom11/1/2016, 7:04:11 PM2 votes

viegar stun does no damage and isn't attached to an unkillable cc machine that can disable you for close to 2 seconds.

thresh ult is also instant isn't it?

Votable Jester11/2/2016, 12:33:11 AM2 votes

Literally nobody mentions the delay in the casting of Event Horizon?

Also, enemies can run into multiple of Thresh's walls, making it potentially better for escapes.

what was that deleted post about?

zacktootall11/1/2016, 7:19:10 PM1 votes

true but thresh's ult does damage if they walk through it

Talisid11/1/2016, 7:05:57 PM1 votes

Thresh's ult is instant and Veigar's stun is on a delay that you can dodge.

Ok sure but why11/1/2016, 7:05:34 PM1 votes

i take veig supp all the time bc fuck thresh

Meep Man11/1/2016, 7:05:18 PM1 votes

So what? Wow, I can't imagine why completely different champions have different kits. Oh hey, on that note, let's talk about how Kayle's ult is a better Trynd ult, wynaut.

CrazyBear198711/2/2016, 5:28:20 AM1 votes

Are you saying they should switch?
