I think the assassin rework was a flop

The reworks have been out for a few patches now, and I think I have a solid opinion of them.

Don't get me wrong, I love that they wanted to make them better, and a lot of the kit changes are cool, but I have one really big problem with what they did.

One of their goals was to fix game health, which is one of the biggest problems with the idea of an assassin, being able to instantly take out a carry is HUGE! But then that character would have no escape mechanism, and would die in any form of team fight, so then you give the assassin a form of escape, usually in the form of an engage as well, so they have to make the decision. This would be the ideal assassin. They have to choose to engage that way, or risk dying. Problem here is, if they don't get fed, they are useless, and if they get ahead, even a little, they can just spiral out of control, making it hard to stop them. This was the problem with assassins, and this is what Riot aimed to fix. I think they did a poor job of it.

Some champions got a change that makes them feel more fair, like Leblanc and her Instant W double casting shenanigans being gone, and her damage being easier to tell when they are going to go for it. She can still be a good assassin, just not she can't jump in and out while murdering your team's main damage sources.

Some feel kinda neutral, like fizz and shaco. They do basically the same thing. Shaco's early was nerfed a little, but he got a better late game in compensation, and AP shaco got a neat buff. Fizz can do more damage if he waits longer, but if he initiates with his ultimate, his combo will do the same thing as before, considering his ult applies the W passive. I personally don't think it should, but from a design standpoint, his ultimate would feel out of place in his kit without it since they added the distance mechanic.

Then some other assassins just got more oppressive when ahead. Talon and Rengar are good examples. Rengar could instantly burst the enemy carries really easily, but with proper use of pink wards and CC, you could easily stop it. Now he gets more AD, and a gangplank orange. Yeah, using it instead of empowered q would do less damage, but he does have more damage overall now, so it's still likely your carry will get killed. His kit doesn't feel like it makes people feel like they got outplayed like Riot intended, but feel more like it wasn't fair. Talon was really healthy I thought before the update. He had an engage, he could jump in and murder an adc, or your team could use proper warding and stop him. If he does kill your adc, he likely doesn't have an escape, so you can kill him. Now, he's one of the most mobile champions in league, being able to jump over walls on almost no cooldown. It's really easy for him to escape at this point.

I know that there are ways to play against them, it's not impossible. But they do feel a lot harder to play against, and having one of them behind on your team does still feel like they aren't doing much. All they did with this update was make some assassins feel more oppressive than they need to be, while making fewer feel balanced. I don't think their goal of making them feel rewarding without making the enemy team think it wasn't fair was successful.

Lol my dude, You don't know what old Rengar could do. He gets more AD now, yeah. But Old Rengar's Q was an enhanced AA, the AA part could crit. Rengar generally got 80% Crit, 2.0 AS and 10% Bonus AD. Old Rengar dealt an ass load more damage than the current one, and was able to pump it out much faster. However, new Rengar is harder to kite than Old Rengar if you managed to disengage from his leap, and he's able to survive more scenarios where he otherwise would've died because of the way his new W works.

That feeling when people actually think the assassin rework made any of them except Kha'Zix and Rengar stronger. LMFAO

ALL. OF. THEM.

Are far worse. Except those two.
