What is the Problem with Twisted Treeline?

And why do so many hate it so much more compared to Summoner's Rift? I have friends who won't play Hexakill with me just because it is on Treeline and I don't understand the hate.

  1. Lack of features. Riot's been fairly terrible in porting features to other maps. Minion skins and Champ Mastery took ages to reach Treeline.
  2. Lack of promotional support. Riot doesn't advertise its non-SR maps much at all. Thus, those maps are often forgotten when discussing League.
  3. Lack of balancing changes. Each non-SR map seemingly only gets one or two patches per year. Compounded with some of those changes being a bit questionable, it makes Alternate Maps feel more stale or unbalanced compared to SR.
  4. Bots. Been in League for years; still around even now.
  5. General perception and knowledge issues. Treeline is relatively unpopular, meaning there aren't many guides or streams for prospective players to learn from. As such, a significant portion of people judge the map based on faulty, low-MMR play. Plus, Riot's recent "ranked Treeline isn't competitive" statement certainly hasn't helped.

Basically, it's just the standard vicious cycle for Alternate Maps. Riot heavily focuses on SR and ignores the other maps. Players see the lack of attention by Riot and decide they shouldn't care about non-SR maps either. Riot notices the playerbase favoring SR and focuses harder on SR.

The only "inherent problem" with Treeline (and Dominion) is that they're not Summoner's Rift, and Riot unfortunately is obsessed with SR.

I love TT, but man I run into a lot of bots.

I like practicing on the mode, but the map in general is busted when it comes to balance.
