A Sivir & Preseason 5 Discussion - Side note: I am crying right now (but not because of Sivir).
Crying because I just spent the last 2-3 hours trying to type this Sivir thread only to get a 404 error when I tried to submit it, losing all my work in the process.

So now I guess I'm gonna have to give you the short version of a non-existent thread because of a 404 error.
So seriously hoping for a change in Season 5 that will play to literally all of Sivir's strengths because her unique aspects are taking a huge hit from the release of Kalista.
So Sivir's Unique aspect is mainly her mobility followed up by her spell shield, Shuelia ulti and her wave clear, right?
IMO Sivir's uniqueness/niche and identity are slowly slipping away from her; Lucian is a compareable adc to Sivir with high mobility + wave clear; A couple of other adc have better burst/harass/AoE than Sivir; And until Kalista, Sivir has pretty much been kinda unique for her combat mobility. Kinda. And sure Sivir has some sort of utility latched on in the form of her ultimate. But then again Kalista is now competing with Sivir in both utility and combat mobility.
I think the worst offender for Sivir's loss of uniqueness/identity is the numerical nature of her kit: all her Unique aspects are dictated by purely numbers. -Movespeed/movespeed utility -Burst -wave clear
All dictated by mostly/purely numbers.
Normally having numbers purely dictate 1 unique aspect would not be a problem. Take veigar for instance. That guy is centered on just pure numerical damage through the roof.
But Sivir's got 3 unique characteristics to keep up with ever since her dodge removal remake. This means that the numbers have to be spread across all aspects to prevent making her OP. This means less power given to each aspect. This means that Sivir's "unique" aspects are more easily out done by an ADC that speciallizes in 1 or 2 of her areas (looking at you Lucian and Kalista).
In short, having pure numbers dictate MULTIPLE unique aspects of a kit means that in order to make the aspects feel truly unique, the numbers would have to be high on all of those aspects but result in a broken character that does too many things too well.
Therefore you would have to nerf it.
The issue with that is that nerfing numbers on such a kit means nerfing the uniqueness of that champion who's uniqueness is proportional to the numbers stuck onto that unique aspect.
I did originally had a larger section explaining why Kalista's combat mobility was superior to Sivir's even with her ulti. But I'm just gonna make this short. My argument was based off the fact that with Kalista, more Attack speed = more hops = more distance. But with Sivir, more attack speed = less time to move in between auto attacks = less distance = more parts of the movespeed buffs that are wasted. Even if you had to stay in auto range, zigzagging back and forth extremely quickly is still better than running a little short distance before weaving in another auto attack.
Also had a part mentioning Kalista's ulti was just as useful as Sivir's ulti teamwise and ultility wise on top of the fact that Kalista might have an acceptably fast waveclear due to statik shiv/runnan's hurricane possibly providing very good synergy to her kit along with her of her E resets.
And coming back to the preseason changes.
If the Season 5 changes either lessens the effect/usefulness of Sivir's waveclearing or if another champion that fills Sivir's position better than she can, I think it's basically over for Sivir's popularity.
Only ways around this that I can tell are:
- Sivir get her kit changed/tweaked
- Season 5 changes plays to all her aspects and not just 1 or 2
There is another option, but it solves nothing: -Sivir gets buffed til she turns OP (and then gets her power + uniqueness nerfed again)

TL;DR
- IMO Sivir's uniqueness/niche and identity are slowly slipping away from her.
- Lucian and Kalista are two examples of very hard competition for Sivir's niche/uniqueness (with the combat mobility aspect)

- Sivir's got 3 unique characteristics to keep up with ever since her dodge removal remake: movespeed, burst and waveclear. 4.5) 3 aspects = power streched over each = less numbers on each aspect 4.75) less numbers on each aspect + having unique aspect come from purely numbers = less power in each unique aspect = more easily overcome by champions specializing in an overlapping aspect.
