Why We Have to Cut Riot Some Slack

As much as an unpopular opinion this is, I think we need to, as a community, take a few steps back from this game as a whole. We have to step back, and actually look at the game for what it is. All these boards are are 98% people bitching and moaning about every little thing Riot thinks of. The other 2%, is the recruitment and Story boards.

You always see people say, "Riot doesnt even look at these boards", well i wonder why. We are bullies. It's like asking why a teenager doesn't look at a fake instagram account made to make fun of them. You don't wanna be around that toxicity.

This isn't to say that Riot always handles things correctly, or that they always keep the game fun or tolerable. Sometimes they really screw up, (looking at you clash), and sometimes they don't, (Looking at you recent Karthus nerf). But what can happen when all people do is complain?

Every wants the game to constantly fit around them, nerf Yasuo, Zed, Zoe, Riven, Jax, Aatrox, Urgot, Vladimir, Liss, and the list goes on. Buff "Insert champion somebody played for a single game, and played them poorly but decides the champion is the problem"

Riot is trying, and has been trying for years, to keep its playerbase playing the game. Not one of us here can imagine the effort that goes into trying to keep every aspect of this game in check.

As a community, we need to give Riot a chance. This season is a big step of progress, and they need to change things and make mistakes so that in the end, the game turns out better for us. I have 2 perma-banned accounts, lost over $1200. I still frequent the game and the boards, because this game has potential, and is starting to live up to it, we just have to let Riot work and to stop crying about everything.

Criticism is not bullying. Sure, some people are assholes and will insult Rioters for what they consider mistakes, but don't act like "98%" is just bashing.

I hate reworks, that much is true. But, at the same time, i can praise Riot for some decisions they make.

Sorry, but i'm just getting sick of all those posts that only look at the negative side. They are usually biased and simply untrue.

Em. No. I am mad at them for making stupid decisions and I will bitch about it until they actually fix their shit. I don't care if they feel comfortable with that. I want to have fun in the game that I love, but they fuck up at every step. Every patch adds bullshit and every season removes something good and meaningful from the game. I still love the game, because of what it was before and I hope for it to be back, but it will never return. We have this shit and have to deal with it. I only wish they apologised to all players that loved this game for making it a shithole. Today I again wanted to delete my accounts of the game that I love and I almost did it. Couldn't play anymore.

The way that this community is, is all Riot's fault and they need to do something about it. There will be more unhappy people, not less.

You forgot another 1%: Concepts and Creations is actually a fun place, most times. Not so much crying, more just "Riot should totally add something like this to the game, cause screw it why not?"

The boards are divided into about 3 FAR from equal parts right now. its about...

  • 33% "Change the game so it fits me or you all suck and your game's gonna die!"
  • 60% SJW Initiative/Riot Shitposting (or better known as the constant argument of "I didn't deserve perma!" "YES, YOU DID!")
  • 2% Memes
  • 4% Creativity

Why the fuck would Riot come here for 6% of the content?

Amen brother! Too many people don’t look at the entire painting, they only look at certain specific spots and always bitch that those spots aren’t perfect. Yes league has bad spots, but it has lots of good spots that make up for the bad ones. I like playing this game because of how diverse it is and that I don’t HAVE to act or play a certain way to succeed. Sure there are playstyles that perform better than other styles/builds, but a player isn’t absolutely forced to do it.

I appreciate all the work and attempts Riot has done to improve the quality of the game and to keep this game so popular and good after 9+ years. In the end, even though League has had some rough spots Riot can use those examples to better judge balance changes and reworks. They can learn from their mistakes (as all living organisms, especially humans, are supposed to do) and hopefully not make history repeat itself.

Wow its almost as if leaving negative criticism ignored only makes people more annoyed by the complete lack of care towards what they have to say which only creates more community backlash.

I think actually one of the biggest problems is their communication, they do not do this well, there should be videos about what his happening and why every other week not every 4 months. And they should have people that are actively involved in the boards every day.

Story boards is currently upset about the Shyvana retcon, though.

Cut them some slack? You are 26 days too soon with this joke. I really dislike those "sthap bullying rito" threads, because they lack the history of how we got here. The state you see right now is the outcome of riot stoping talking with players. Not the other way around. Even then I'd hardly see any bashing or trashing on Riot. Lots of rants (GEE I WONDER WHY HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM) lots of frustration. And what Rito does? Definitely nothing we, not even ask but, beg them to.

As a community, we need to give Riot a chance.

This is Stockholm syndrome.

they need to change things and make mistakes so that in the end, the game turns out better for us.

Players repeat this mantra every season and yet it gets worse every season.
