Aatrox Ultimate Rework Question

So according to Repertoir's post, they are making Aatrox's R stronger offensively but counteracting this by hitting it's defensive power by getting rid of the revive. Now during Aatrox's ultimate he fills a Blood Well and based on how full the blood well is he heals at the end of his ultimate or upon taking lethal damage.

So, uh, my question: how is healing upon taking lethal damage different from a revive?

So the current counterplay to Aatrox's R is that you leave him at low health until his ultimate wears off so he doesn't heal up. Now whether you kill him or not he heals... Sounds like they made his R stronger offensively at the cost of... making his R stronger defensively...

Well current revive renders him invurnerable for 2.5 sec so technically it has 2.5 sec to let his abilities come up again. This version means aatrox is healed immediately after lethal damage like last second soraka ult save kinda but now enemies can burst him so in theory aatrox may not live more than 2.5 sec. Difference : old:lives at least for 2.5 sec while reviving and moving around vs new one: treat it like a soraka used her ult when you were 1hp away from death-can die in the next second though.

The main part is he no longer goes into a stasis sort of state when he revives. It’ll probably heal much quicker. The other difference is this Blood Well is based off all healing he receives, encouraging him to use it offensively, and also provides counterplay in that allies can avoid the damage to reduce the healing.

It’s better when going into a fight. It’ll be worse in instances where you have to reactively use it to survive a bad position or gank.

The revive still exists, just the untargetability is gone.

'Cough cough' urgot counters him harder now.

The only real change is that right after his 'revive' you'll pretty much be able to lock him down and destroy him if he fucks up unlike right now where he can stall for 2,5 seconds hoping for his team to come and back him up in time as he slowly heals.
