So, Zac Ain't Doing So Hot
Some of it is probably just learning curve, and I know some of it was intended to allow for greater skill expression, but I believe he also lost a decent amount of tankiness. Yes, I know his base stats technically got buffed (by tiny amounts, but eh), but his old ult did a lot for him in that respect. The CC and MS made it difficult to focus him (honestly, probably not the most fun mechanic to play against even if it was cool to use), and also helped him collect blobs. At the same time, he gets hit more than he used to with the reduced knockup time on E and the charge time necessary for his new ult. I see that he got some hotfix buffs, but I don't think that'll fix the weakness exposed by the changes. Now, weaknesses aren't necessarily a bad thing, but the reward needs to be worth the risk. I understand that Riot didn't want E to be an automatic combo into ult, but as is, the charged ult can be rather unreliable to land on your target (...goddamn Lucian). And at the same time, there's a decent chance you're giving the enemy tanks/bruisers/assassins a free ride to your carries. I suppose you can simply use it as a second jump to stay with the enemy team, but that case doesn't feel very satisfying, not much of the hype that you expect from an ult. That said, how do you fix these problems, make his ult "worth it"? Honestly, the changes that I want to make are far too much to expect, but I'll type them out anyway. Hope springs eternal right? First off. Have the ult apply the Grounded debuff while charging. It's ridiculously appropriate thematically to have people get stuck in the pile of goo. However, that creates a new problem. The E into ult becomes an automatic combo again. To fix that, even more weird changes. Have E apply a 1-1.5 second slow instead of a knockup. That allows the opponent to have some chance to escape. Thresh lantern, speed boosts, Mikael's, or maybe even just the slowed walking speed if Zac only clipped them with the edge of E. As compensation, give Zac a .5 to .75 second stun when he slams two targets together with Q. I'm imagining Zac landing on the enemy team, maybe they stun him while he's incoming so he can't ult immediately... that's how his E works right? I actually can't remember if he gets stunned for the remaining duration once he lands... anyway, they flee, but Zac recovers, uses Q to stop their escape, and pools under them. I have to say, I like this idea way more than simple number buffs, especially given Riot's stated goals for the rework (the aforementioned skill expression, creating some variance in his combat pattern rather than facerolling the keyboard each time your CDs are up). I mean, if I didn't like my own idea, there'd probably be something wrong with me, but... anyway. Thoughts?
