Shouldn't the size of Chogath's Q and W increase as he gets larger from his feasts stacks?

I mean sure the extra health is nice however it makes it incredibly easy for enemies to hit you with a skill-shot and hard for you to dodge them. I think a good idea that would help him out is to increase the radius of his rupture and feral scream as he gets more feasts stacks.

As lovely as this sounds, I'd rather not have Zyra Ultimate sized Q's rupturing through my rift :(

It'd both make him OP as fuck AND go against his core identity.

For the OP part, I'd like to remind you full AP athenes cho is a thing, spamming enormous 8 second cd knockups from a mile away with 100% AP scaling is broken as bonkers, just imagine being sieged by that monstruosity, big no-no.

As for his core identity, Cho'Gath is supposed to be the raidboss champion, his abilities are all stupid strong ( 100% AP AoE ranged knockup, 70% AP AoE 3 sec silence, 70%AP true damage nuke) but in exchange they are difficult to land and Cho becomes unable to dodge shit for being so huge, if you make his abilities bigger they are harder to dodge and he becomes just the champion with the stupidly strong abilities.

As someone who loves going full AP Cho in ARAM, Dominion, and formally Hexakill, it's not as bad as you'd think. Remember that his Q has an amount of telegraphing around Sion levels, and that we're solidly in the League of Mobility. LucianYasuoLeeSinLeblanc etc. will never get hit by your Q barring extreme circumstances for instance, despite theoretically being great targets for it's lockdown.

Unless they facecheck a bush. God help you if you facecheck a bush with full AP Cho hiding inside.

I play myself a lot of AP Cho mid in the rift, and I believe the reason he's balanced IS because his abilities can be dodged, if his Q was big enough to be difficult to dodge even with high mobility skills he'd be completely broken, he deals a LOT of damage AND packs a lot of CC. AP Cho has surprisingly strong sieging merely due to his range, damage and general spammability of his Q, if it also happened to be large enough to be hard to dodge, it would be impossible at all to deal with a Cho'Gath team once they got ahead.

I mean, when you're playing AP Cho and you know someone else on your team can do the initiation CC, suddenly it becomes extremely easy to land his Q, and the effects on the enemy team are completely devastating, specially since it's often followed by a team wide 3 second silence.

Cho'Gath is an extremely strong champion, and the ONLY reason he doesn't see competitive play is his general unreliability (Kinda like Brand, which is fine by me, the fact that he's the stupidly strong champion with a lot of counterplay IS what makes him special) and the fact he gets punished for doing his job as a tank "So you managed to get the enemy team to focus you AND soaked so much damage for your team it killed you?, here, have your survivability AND offensive presence greatly diminished for the next 3 minutes after resurrection" If I could buff anything about his kit it'd be this unnecesary punishment, it's like you're a walking Mejais.

Just as a pro Cho'gath tip... Lead with silence, follow up with Q.

Mobility = Gone.

Orangesilk1 votes

That only works if you're using Rylais (I myself rush it even on tank Cho), most champs can walk out of a rupture unless they aren't paying attention or are somehow impaired.

Padagi1 votes

What?

This sounds like craziness to me. If you regularly miss Rupture due to champions walking out of them, you're not aiming properly.

I was talking about preventing dash and mobility spells (including Flash) that are on so many champions which makes landing Rupture much more difficult. If you're missing Rupture on targets just walking out, that's a whole different issue.

Since Cho has an instant cast AoE silence he's uniquely positioned to prevent champions from dashing out of his only CC (unlike notable champions with CC like Jarvan, Amumu, Nautilus, etc. that can be eliminated with a mobility spell).

He's a tank, isn't absorbing more damage better?

Caezium3 votes

True. Although Tank itemization isn't the best as of now. And yeah I don't think his hitbox being large is bad for him, especially for his role.

Garen would like a talk with you there has always been a problem with tanky champs with very little damage or Reliable CC why focus them when you can ignore them?

Orangesilk4 votes

Cho'Gath has 80 bonus magic damage per hit, a 650 true damage nuke, the highest base AD in the game and a LOT of CC, (that's without a single damage item, usually you will see Cho Building RoA/Rylais/IBG/Wits End) he doesn't get ignored at all, he gets all his skills dodged and then endlessly kited though, but that's the point, he's an astoundingly strong character, who MUST be dealt with in some way that doesn't involve getting hit by him, like a raidboss.

In fact, he demands a lot of attention despite being a huge wall of impossible-to-kill that's why his late is so awesome.

He does have a problem with the reliability of his CC, but Cho'Gath should NOT be your main initiator, he's great for follow-up for an initiation or counter-initiation.

Besides, being huge is a great way to nullify the effect a pick comp has on your team, since you're likely to be hit by most morganas bindings, blitz/thresh hooks and so on, which is often inconsequential since your main cc counterinitiation skill is ranged anyways.

Cho'Gath was hit severely hard by the unwarranted BoTRK buff, the Randuins nerf, and basically the huge mess that the ADC update was, but he remains a strong champ.

Or how about adding extra effects to the abilities. Like give W a slow, or give Q a shorter delay.

Rose crusader5 votes

It is a sexy and fun idea but it would make him oppressive as fuck with the OP range.

MoistPinkSock3 votes

This. I love the idea. Cho'gath never works out well for me and I think a little more crowd control could go a long way.

Dreddeth2 votes

No thanks, his AoE effects are already about as large as they can get while remaining fair. Also, Cho'Gath's whole concept is that he's a giant, crazy strong monster who's easy to hit but hard to kill, so supplement his ult's passive with Armor/MR if you find him too fragile, and then use that extra durability to take skillshots on the chin so your glass-jawed teammates don't have to.

LordOfTheLeague2 votes

Maybe a bonus for Q and W hitbox when Cho'g is at max stacks ? Sound hella great.

WeihGuy2 votes

And make it impossible to dodge? No thanks. Well placed ruptures are hard to dodge and even more so during team fights.

noteventhatgood2 votes

imagine if lulu ulted him when he had full feast stacks... his q would be GINORMOUS

Poldy Scarecrow2 votes

A fully stacked cho'gath can hold of a team by himself as is. He's good atm imo only thing he needs is the upcoming VU

TaNKeD2 votes

DFG Cho, you da real MVP

shad0w2 votes

He's fine atm. He's good in certain matchups and has good sustain if played correctly. If his HARD CC gets buffed in range he'll become the next OP top laner. The 2.5 second silence (maxed) is already broken.

Legostrike2 votes

I think that's the buff he needs. all he needs is that minor push.

Mazianos1 votes

It would make sense but then rito be like: "He gets bigger abilities and then no hp bonus HRNNNNNNNG"

Leggie1 votes

I think he should just get a rework...

DaCush1 votes

I just want them to give him a vu. Then everyone will play him and you'll see op cho threads popping up.

Kuroi861 votes

His ranges do increase, on all of his abilities, not just Q and E.
