Bruiser, Bruisers, Bruisers, OH MY

Ok so I can get pretty salty in league and I know there's no true usefulness in complaining about things while playing because that just inhibits your chance of overcoming what is hurting you. That being said, this thread is not meant to be QQ but a general plea for help on a certain age old topic we can all relate to. I'm by no means new to the game but this might seem like a "clueless newbie" question, but explain to me why Bruiser champions like jax/xin/shyv/insert bruiser here, can deal so much damage with either one or zero damage items. I'm an adc main with mid being a close second so i'm used to playing high risk high reward squishies, only to see a 3/8 irelia or 2/1 jax melt my team without suffering more than a papercut. This is discouraging because it makes me feel like my damage output is rather useless (especially when I am the first to get blown up) and after seeing these bruisers in action it makes me question why the meta isnt just to have 5 bruisers on a team. Like I said, i'm not new and I extensively am reading up on ways to better myself at the game, but I just need some help with this one guys. If any of you could take some time out of your rift prancing day to fill me in on some tips regarding how to deal with bruisers(primarily as adc) or why they are allowed to get away with not having to sacrifice anything whilst becoming absurdly tanky i'd be pretty darn grateful. I feel like there is something i'm missing because from my perspective things seem pretty one sided. I get that all roles have a purpose but as far as bruisers go its seems like, depending on the champion, one can do the job of 3 or 4 laning positions. A single jac to me seems like an adc/tank/support all wrapped up into one. Give me some tips before I pull my hair out (I need it to cushion my headset after all).

Oh and sorry for the long read, those that will give the good answers are the ones that care enough to read it.

There is a lot of math that I am way to lazy to do right now that would help answer your question. The simple answer is that a bruiser power spikes on their first item because they are usually tanky items. In the early game tank items > than damage items. The fact that resistances in league rely on diminishing returns, means that this initial item is going to be the most effective purchase they make. But as the game goes on and carries begin getting armor or magic pen bruisers obviously begin to fall behind. The addition of percentage health damage also helps counter the late game.

Secondly many bruisers get armor and magic resist passively from abilities. Garen, Shyv, Jax and Olaf are all examples of this. This is again a boost to their early game strength and allows them to deviate from strictly tank items. Additionally most bruiser have 2 skills that scale well as they level. This means that they are consistently increasing in power from levels up until level 11ish(that part varies more from champ to champ). For reference midlaners tend to be champions that rely on level powerspikes more than items, while adc's rely on items. Bruisers rely on the combination of these two concepts.

Finally most bruisers play top lane. This means that any mistake can cause the other laner to snowball uncontrollably. Top lane is the best lane in the game to learn how to take a small advantage and snowball it into a huge lead. And that's why bruisers excel in with one item powerspikes.

It's worth nothing that some champs require at least two specific items to reach their powerspike. These champs are usually investing in items that make them absolute monster duelists. After that the good one will build strictly tank.

Bruisers are melee so they can't safely siege or defend an objective - and objectives win games. They also tend to be easily kited especially by an adc who has a support at a minimum backing them up. They have the damage to kill and adc in a 1v1 if they get on top of them, but they rely on cooldowns to do it after which they can't do much, whereas an adc can just keep right clicking on people forever doing similar amounts of damage to bruisers but from a safer range and without end. Bruisers can't really damage objectives like towers and inhibitors at all compared to adcs, and their abilities are also inefficient to use on dragon and baron.

They serve as a 'frontline' to your team comp and, depending on what they specialize in, can either serve as a wall that makes it difficult for enemies to dive into the 'backline' (the carries, midlane and bot) or they can be the ones diving the enemy team to disrupt their formation. Because their job is to dive into the enemy team they have to build tanky, but they are not tanks and don;t have that kind of cc like a malphite or leona. Instead they have damage so that people have to deal with them and focus them down - you can't just ignore a jax who jumped into your team the way you'd try to ignore alistair or something.
