Why is Viktor support so bad?

Beerstein··2 votes·425 views

I've tried him a few times and can't figure out why he's such an abysmal support. He has insane poke damage with his E and amazing late game zone control with his W. That said he's just not performing and I can't figure out where or why. Any insight?

Ahh the forums, where legitimate questions from someone wanting to learn get downvoted and non constructive whine threads about Vayne get upvoted. Thanks for those that answered ^_^

Tbh I upvote whining vayne threads cause she's just a bitch. But Viktor just doesn't perform because he has nothing to protect his carry outside of a hard to land stun. Your base damages are okay, but you're so mana hungry you run out after two rotations. You're also super squishy.

Who said Viktor support was bad? It's not he's a better support than lux imo.

Victor isn't meant to be a support. He's supposed to be a carry. Later on, he doesn't provide that much utility aside from his W.

Because his laser is extremely mana hungry and needs to clear waves with dorans to recoup. Because his gravity well is only situationally useful when being engaged upon or setting up a zone and not at all for initiation. His q harass is useful in the first 4 levels but beyond that you need AP to do damage. Buying sightstone (basically required for supports as a first item) puts his build so far behind because he has fairly little damage until he has e augment. I don't know why you think he would be good at support.

Well I said why in the OP actually xD Also was willing to try something different.

You said look at his late game damage and zone control, why can't he support. Those aren't reasons a champ can support. He doesn't have massive late game damage without going full AP. he doesn't have base damages like a support velkoz. He doesn't have stuns from the start of the game like Support Annie. He doesn't have a long range snare like support lux. He doesn't have any tools to help his carry in lane get picks. gravity well is situational and if you are leveling it first for increased slow you won't do any damage with your other abilities because the base damages and CDs aren't there.

Because Viktor needs a solid gold income to remain relavent later on. And he NEEDS to rush his laser upgrade to be even remotely useful early game.

And as a support, you typically rush sightstone or your gold income upgrade, meaning its super easy to abuse Viktor early game.

He is just 20x better mid lane. (Or ocasionally top lane with an AP bruiser-ish build)

Because he has only two spells with CC attatched (one of which is a momentary silence, and the other requires them to stand on it for multiple seconds). There is no reason to play support viktor over, say, support Annie Velkoz Zyra , and there is no reason to play him in support over mid, where he gets more damage items and gold.
