It seems as though hardly anyone is concerned about the balance issues of these new dragons

I have yet to come across a single thread warning of potential dragon buff exploits for certain champions. If you thought the new juggernaut itemization on assassins was bad, I can't wait to see what the LCS players come up with for normal players to copy regarding dragon buffs. Especially in this stupid dynamic queue environment where it is easier to set up team compositions which could be used to cheese the dragon buffs.

It doesn't help that the buffs stack, and are enhanced by slaying the elder dragon. I suspect that certain champions/team comps (I'm looking at you, Nunu) will become unstoppable if they're able to secure certain buffs.

Imagine a Tristana with teleport and two earth stacks. That would be nearly unstoppable as the earth buff is now. There wouldn't be "sieges", especially with a Taric support to make her and her team invulnerable while she eats the turret in less than 5 seconds.

I'm just trying to point out that these buffs run a high risk of being exploited in a game that already suffers from balance issues that Riot is trying to address. Should they really release THIS when they're not even sure if the mage buffs will leave mages in a balanced state? How unstable do they want this game to potentially get?

Riot doesn't care, clearly they are sacrificing balance to make things look more fun and flashy to attract a new crowd of casual bads

Or, they're instead taking chances and trying new things to see if they're worth it or not. It's like you people think that if one thing goes wrong, you leave the game for good. In reality, you might stay away fro a few months max but you'll always come back; and when you do, they already have the worthwhile stuff balanced again because the people who are actually worth a damn in the League community helped Riot make their game how it should be: through trial, error, and perseverance.

too many other horrendous design decisions going on. hard to address them all. The qss change was almost overlooked.

It's so difficult to see what the results are going to be in the long run from this that it's hard to form a useful opinion, but the larger goal of encouraging more objective-based gameplay is laudable.

As for your particular concerns, I don't see how the change is more exploitable than what we currently have. You can't create a team designed to exploit the specific buffs because you can't predict which ones you are going for. You can make a team that's more generally focused on objective control if the buffs are strong, but in that case that's the desired outcome.

I'm also not sure that's it's great to wait for the mage update to reach some relative point of balance either. Rather, it seems to me that it's actually beneficial to refine the two together since the goal of giving mages more strategic differentiation and that of reemphasizing broad objective-based play converge on many points.

I'm sure there will be a lot to talk about once it hits live. The only major friction point I'm willing to predict at the moment is whether they can make it so the buff-control focused teams are different enough from the teams with innate split-push/tower-eating power.
