Good backup picks for a katarina main

I'm currently playing a lot of Katarina Katarina , and I'm thinking of maining her. So i wanted to consult you guys about what is:

  1. The biggest counter to Kat
  2. An overall good midlane pick with not that many bad matchups. I already know how to play against Katarina and I just want to have some backup picks in case she gets banned or picked, which does happen in my elo.

2.Ahri obviously Not quite sure about the big counters to Kat midlane.

1.Diana her biggest counter . 2. Akali Anivia Gragas Diana they all counter her , outplay her , dominate her .

In my opinion there is no clear way of placing a guaranteed counter to her, since all of us embrace certain matchups differently to others - For instance, many claim Annie is an hard counter althought I have never lost a single matchup against one. It depends on your skill, your general knowledge of the game and the champion you are going against.

Although, I can still place a few general counters:

  • Any champion with easy Hard-CC placement will counter you - For example, Leona during teamfights can break you up.
  • LeBlanc; during laning phase she can pretty much juke and outrange you - Some MR should fix it up.
  • Annivia; She can pretty much break you, not a matchup I advise you to go into unless you have some really good mechanics with Katarina (roam is advised);
  • Magic Resist; Be careful with any Magic Resist within the builds of your opponents, your ultimate's damage gets dramatically reduced by a small amount of MR - Magic Penetration should be considered (Void Staff is generally a good choice)
