State of Kog'Maw

So, I think we all know Kog'Maw is in a terrible spot right now, and the "early game buffs" he received with last patch were in fact, a TERRIBLE late game nerf.

But let's see just HOW terrible of an ADC is Kog'Maw right now, using my favorite statistics site (champion.gg of course).

-He is as of now the ADC with the most average deaths per-game. That is of course to be expected for an immobile ADC with no escape tools who literally has to sit still for his steroid to work, it's sad, but it makes sense, we'll let it slide.

-He's at 47% winrate, which would be okay, since this is the early-game meta and he's very team dependent, we COULD let it slide. but then we look at his winrate per game length, and it's just sad. The late game nerfs were so brutal that after the midgame his winrate just plummets. You heard it here folks, the one champion that's SUPPOSED to embody the late-game hypercarry fantasy, the ONE TRUE lategame ADC has been turned into a mid-game champion, and a bad one at that, his winrate peaks at 48% at the 35 minute mark and then it just drops off, we live in a world in which you can say "It's okay, Kog'Maw falls off late-game" and that's TERRIBLE.

-Finally, the one statistic that made me cringe the most: 11% of his damage in a fight is true damage, this might sound rather harmless until you realize that he doesn't get true damage in his kit or items... except for his passive. That's right folks, 11% of the damage Kog deals, he deals it by dying, he contributes to his team by feeding and exploding in the enemies faces, and if that's not the saddest thing ever, I don't know what is.

In short, Kog'Maw is in a terrible spot, the worst spot possible (Okay, he's not the WORST ADC, but that's because you guys have decided to keep Urgot in the darkness) please help him out a bit Riot.

Pretty sure urgot is a better adc right now then kog. Mostly cause he can use those op assassin items like item 3142 and item 3156. And he also can now get item 3812 and have some actual lifesteal. Kog is just plain bad. I mean what reason is there to pick kog over vayne?

Not only is Kog's pick rate low, but take a look at the success of players that have lots of Kog games.

The win-rate actually drops into the toilet whereas before the remake Koggy's win-rate rose steadily to a pretty comfortable level with player mastery.

What's that mean?

It means Kog could be played into most games by dedicated players.

But now?

He's so massively niche that if you feel like playing him whenever, expect a win-rate below 35%.

ADC Kog'maw http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2049246903/215452559?tab=overview

AP Kog'maw http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2035922706/215452559?tab=overview

I'm not very good at debating with others over the validity of a claim, but I'll just give my opinion that the reason why Kog'maw's winrate is so low is because a ton of people don't know how to play him well and just end up lowering his winrate.

Just my opinion.

I'm glad they gutted his AP counterpart. Absolutely horrendous to deal with, spends entire game sitting two screens away and spamming ult.

AD, however, is extremely weak right now and could very well receive buffs, considering how miss fortune is running around raping everything (both in laning and teamfighting late game).

That true damage statistic made me laugh. Personally I don't know how bad or good kog maw is, have only seen him in maybe 1 or 2 games (got wrecked by him too), but looking at the statistics he could really use help.

I really feel like he didn't need the rework, sounds cool but really screwed him over :/. Also the 2% solid ad dmg on his w RUINED his late game. the only ad scaling he has now is his ult, are you serious?

During one week, I perma pick him because I begin to like his playstyle. So I build impact effect item. I aggree with the fact that koggy is very dependant of his team, I win more often when I'm in a tanky team. With koggy, we need a perfect placement like syndra or Azir. Koggy is always able to take objectives switfly. item 3124 item 3153 item 3091 item 3115 item 3094 item 1310 or item 1300

This is just my opinion, and I suck at this game, so feel free to disregard everything I say.

If you're still reading this, feel free to read this bronze-level statement.

From my experience, I feel like Kog'Maw is in a good spot and needs very little in changes(The meta sucks for him, though). Back then, in order to reach the base damage of the current W, you would need 160 bonus AD, but I usually find that my full build(Everything's a damage item, too) has only 120 bonus AD (Guinsoo's at full stacks changes this to 144, but that's still lower than 160). He straight-up wins any 1v1 if the opponent doesn't instagib him, he can forget pen items and be fine 70% of the time, and Kog should really only be in the fight when someone else on his team is a higher priority target in that moment.

Oh, and the passive is the dumbest thing ever conceived by man. It just doesn't work on Koggy.

i love kog and the changes at the start of preseason was really nice for him (the steroid attack speed) but he's just not that good early game anymore. Mid Game is now like 15 mins and by then it's probably over since if their team is fed.
