It's a "tank item" meta to be specific. Squishies build tank items then become unkillable but also high damage.

Pretty much. We say 'tank' because there isn't another term for it (was the same case as 'tank' Yi or Fiora). They aren't tanks, but they have tank class durability.

Of course then there are the actual tanks and tank-leaning bruisers that are also doing fine, like Maokai and Poppy

tank meta because it happens that the strongest top laners build tank at the moment (still aint seing tanky mids and junglers like a real tank meta.... cho gath/urgot and grag/sej not so long ago
