BotRK on Vayne

Why is this item considered core? People say it synergizes with her w but I don't see it. Attack speed is the only stat that improves her W and there are much better items for attack speed. Her W makes the passive redundant and is better against tanks anyway since it is true damage. Furthermore, BotRK's passive doesn't scale with crit chance, crit damage or AD, making it weak on full build ADCs.

Don't get me wrong, I completely understand why Vayne might build it against a team with high HP bruisers (Garen, Illaoi, etc) but that's true of any auto based champion. Why is it considered core Vayne?

for the most part. because shes bad early game. she needs the sustain from it to not get demolished.

but if you ask me you should get a zeal item first. and then go into IE then into an another zeal item into bt.

botrk is sub optimal on her

It grants sustain, attack speed, and an active that gives vayne more mobility, which is completely unique for an attack speed item.

i always thought it was weird that item 3153 did current %health because the passive bonus damage scales down as you kill them. It would be stupid good if it did Max% and it'd be a great finisher if it did %missing. Just seemed odd to me.

Why is it considered core Vayne?

For a long time Vayne's core rush item was item 3072 because the life-steal is a life-saver in her lacking lanning phase.

Kingblade gives life steal and AS, which helps a lot early game.

Also: Kingblade's mixture of AD, AS, life steal, and the burst-damage nuke offer a nice package for a good power-spike with 1 item: which goes a long way to solving a lot of Vayne's early-game woes. With Kingblade completed she becomes a solid champion. Vayne also scales so incredibly well with items late she doesn't have any bothers to give about trading a small bit of late-game hyperscaling for a good chunk of early-game power. LoL isn't 100% about the late game, quite possible to loose a game in the mid-game and early-game stages.

%HP damage not scaling with crit or AD doesn't really matter when it automatically scales itself based on the HP (or really level) of your opponents anyways. It's not something like Wit's End flat damage were it actually does kind of fall off. Vayne isn't giving up much late-game power for that.

Lastly, Kingblade offers a lot of great tools to reliably and decisively deal with tanks and tanky DPS champions. Their main weakness is being kited to death, which the %MS slow really helps a lot with. Many tanky champions also tend to be more sustained DPSy than pure-burst, allowing life-steal a lot of potency in dealing with such champion to make Vayne deceptively hard to kill.

%Hp damage is icing on the cake, but Vayne would still grab Kingblade if it didn't have that.

TLDR: Kingblade offers Vayne a huge power-spike 1 major item in. Vayne generally sucks 1 major item in, and her main weakness is loosing the game before she's amassed 3 major items.

ADCs work by multiplying stats. you want to have several different stats that scale off each other to create monster damage.

Stats are AD, AS, Crit, LS, ArPen (situational).

<> Vayne has free in her kit: W: on-hit R: AD

She's got free AD. Means she needs less AD than other carries, and wants more "other stats" like crit and AS. however early AD still needed purchase (need to get to X AD to "enable" other stat's value)

<>

kingsblade give two "other stats", while giving "just enough" AD to "light up" the value in purchasing them.
