Nautilus: q + aa or q + e?

FrankerX··4 votes·567 views

i see it a lot in lcs that nautilus hooks someone and uses his e before autoattacking. i dont see the reason for this because the AA hits anyways the animation starts before the person is able to move away. and if they lets say flash away, the e doesnt hit anyways.

is there a reason why ppl hook + e instead of q + aa + e? i dont see any.

I think there's a tiny window of opportunity right before his anchor comes down that you can flash.

It really is better to AA after the hook. It roots them so they can't get away and then the E will slow them down for that extra second from running away which can be the difference in a kill. If they flash/dash right after the hook, they will most likely avoid the E as well.

The only time that it's better to E is if you can hit more than one enemy.

I dunno, maybe it's the small chance that they might walk half a step and get hit by two waves of the E instead of one. It really isn't that big of a difference, but hey, pro players are better at capitalizing on smaller advantages.

EDIT: Plus it will come off CD sooner if you use it earlier.

AA is better against mobility champs, since that'll lock them in place for (hopefully) long enough to kill them. For other champs I can't imagine it mattering too much...

i always use AA and wait with my E till the root expires, as it gives max effecitivty on the slow and they often walk away takeing extra hits. The only reason for usein E first i can imagin is that you get it off cd earlier, so it offers a bit more potential damage, especially in a teamfight when hitting multiple targets.
