Random buff idea: What if Urgot's passive worked on Towers?

Just a random thought I had, since the general opinion is that Urgot is "bad" and needs a buff/rework. Towers put out quite a lot of damage at all stages of the game, so reducing the damage they deal by 15% would be a hefty advantage! Additionally, since he's already such an early-game pusher and lane bully, really good at pushing enemies back to under their towers, this would make CS'ing under tower much harder for his enemies, since it would ruin the usual pattern of "2 tower shots + 1 AA for melee, 1 tower shot + 2 AAs for casters".

This idea sorta came from Bard's ultimate having the ability to affect towers, so it's not unprecedented for towers to be effected by status modifiers. Keep that in mind!

So, I'm very curious what everyone else thinks of this idea?

I don't hate it.

Especially because it gives Urgot a use in mid/late game when he otherwise falls off a cliff.

It would cause some balance issues with a new and interesting interaction, but I really doubt they'd be more problematic than the unique capabilities of a wide range of other champions.

Reducing tower damage also gives Urgot a unique take on the main reason to use marksman - killing towers and taking objectives in a siege or after a team fight.

Where do you get this idea that Urgot has a bad mid/late game? I feel like mid game is when he truly shines and he's able to carry that through late game. Assuming you're building him with full armor penetration runes and offensive masteries and you build Last Whisper and Black Cleaver, there really isn't a point in the game where he doesn't do HEAPS of damage. Unless you're behind of course.

Urgot is god tier in the bottom lane of Dominion (as is Yorick), and that game is essentially nothing but early game, lanning phase for him. Urgot is generally one of the worst 3 champions in Rift, where there isn't just a lanning phase.

From that it's easy to extrapolate Urgot's power curve is the same as Yorick's, god in lane, falls off a cliff after lanning is over.

If you compare Urgot to the strong-early Lee Sin, you also see a lot of simiarities. Urgot and Lee's kits give them stats and capacities in pretty much every imaginable place, but spread the scaling of those capabilities around enough that you can only really push ~40% of their kit into late-game with dedicated itemization. Lee's HP shield scales with AP or armor/MR, Urgot's HP shield scales with AP or Armor/MR. 2 of Lee Sin's abilities scale with AD, 2 of Urgot's scale with AD. Urgot's ult only really scales with plenty of durability, his 1200 range harass only really scales with tons of offense. You sacrifice a significant amount of Urgot's kit as the game progresses based on itemization, and whatever "heaps" of damage Urgot brings into late game is far surpassed by several champions with better AA steroids and longer range.

I mean, sure - Urgot can do things late-game, but with only 425 AA range and a 130+85% AD skill serving as a sudo-AA steroid, Ezreal can hit harder from further range, and you've also got champions like Jinx with a 130% AS steroid. Or on the tanky/bruiser/siege side of things, there's Nidalee and Elise and Gnar.

When opponents just ignore you completely and let you run wild with AA+Sheen procing them in the face, yeah you can do heaps of damage with Urgot. There's just so many champions that scale so much better and apply their damage in more effective ways end-game than Urgot to realistically say Urgot scales well into late game.

Look dude, you can theory craft all you want, but I'm speaking from personal experience and that experience tells me that Urgot never falls off. In fact he remains a unique threat to the enemy team throughout the entire game. As long as Urgot builds for armor penetration he will just do heaps of damage at 1200 range, something no other sustained damage carry can boast.

He has the most durability, range and utility out of all the Marksmen and you cannot hard counter him through Thornmail which is a pretty goddamn big deal. As long as Urgot is decently farmed, his EQQQ combo will shred a squishy down to about a quarter health. Not only is he shredding health from a ridiculous range, but he's also reducing the enemy's damage output by 15%.

You can try and put Urgot on paper and tell me he's shit, but if you play him the way he wants to be played, he's just downright effective.
