They are obviously there if they picked a champ...people just forget to lock in and there is a dodge 70% of the games I try to make.

Yeah it's really annoying. I never had an issue with the previous champ select.

uh no sometimes people pick the champ and leave

do u watch streams? before this update, you can see meteos leave to shit and arrive just before minions spawn, taking no part in the champ selections at all

Ok so you seem confused. First off if you don't pick a champ during the initial preferred champion section you don't get a dodge.

If they pick a champ then let the timer run out or pick a champ with 3 seconds left and then lock it in, it doesn't change your knowledge of which champ they are playing or which champ they are banning.

If the old method was so bad people would have been complaining for the last 5 seasons about not making people lock in their choice. I have never seen a post complaining about people not having to lock in their choice vs letting the timer run out after picking their champ.

It's so that draft doesn't take FOREVER. By forcing people to lock in, you force them to pass on the Draft sequence to the next part as soon as they've made their decision. Draft goes much faster this way. I can see why they did it. If they didn't and everyone didn't lock in, Each ban would take 40 seconds, and each pick would take 40 seconds, along with 40 seconds prep before and after pick/ban. 18 iterations of 40 seconds = 720 seconds, or 12 minutes. 12 minutes to do a draft. And imagine if someone dodged at the end.

Horrible stuff, really.
