Support Itemization

So one thing I like about the new season is when I jungle I feel like the new jungle items are on par with other items I could buy for my full build if I wasn't a jungler. I don't necessarily feel I have to replace my jungle item in my full build. On that same line of thought I wondered if the same couldn't be done for Support. Many times I have full items and have to keep a sightstone around for vision. I have two thoughts on how to make a support's full build more satisfying.

  1. Make Sightstone capable of being built into new support related items similar to Machete. For example Sighstone + Zeke's Herald = Zeke's Herald with +350 Hp and the ability to lay up to 2 wards at a time. This way you still have the ability to ward while adding power to the late game support champs.

  2. So this idea is based on the new idea of Smite getting charges over time. What if support items such as Mikael's Crucible, Locket of the Iron Solari, etc... also had the added bonus of giving your Warding Totem Trinket additional charges. This way by building support items you get the added ability to ward the map without taking up an additional item slot.

Obviously any idea like these would need to be balanced to keep other classes from wanting to use it similarly to how Jungle items work, and some balancing would need to take place.

The other issue I've run into is buying a pink ward at full support build. It would be nice if there were a work around. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

You could buff support itemization and nerf Lee at the same time by removing sightstone and making tier 2 support items have 2 placeable ward charges and tier 3 support items have 4 placeable ward charges. You would have to be careful to increase the cost of tier 2 support items so Lee wouldn't just build it, though.

I must have missed those. Thanks

P.S. I think it's cute that both of you are promoting your own threads.

also had the added bonus of giving your Warding Totem Trinket additional charges. This way by building support items you get the added ability to ward the map without taking up an additional item slot.

If you watch competitive play (not even LCS but just ranked solo queue in higher divisions) you'll notice that almost everybody has a red/blue trinket. The support almost always has a red trinket. As a support main, you really want that red trinket to fully participate in vision wars. You aren't going to want your support items to give you more ward charges because if you still have a warding totem to use them, you lose a lot of vision control.
