Idea for Ryze

Ryze So to start this off, i'll admit, i don't play Ryze. but i have been around League sense 2011 and i kinda miss the old Ryze. Not his ability, but the feeling that he is a real mana monster.

Let me know what y'all think and if you have any ideas as well.

In the game today, Ryze is kinda broken. Once he build just a couple of items like CATALYST OF AEONS, and has ARCHANGEL'S STAFF, he begins to snowball. With some of the best clearing potential in the game, the ability lock down a target and have stupid amounts of DPS, huge ability to gank with his ultimate as well as escape. He is practically a must have or a must ban. He doesn't take a lot of skill anymore. with 40% cdr its almost like is E ability is evelynn q with no penalty cool down for using it on enemy minions. And you dont even need to stack items that have mana. building full AP with no mana is viable.

I miss the mana monster he was meant to be.

That said, just for play testing at least, I would like to see something like this:

  • His passive gets rid of AP giving him mana, but adds to the damage that the amount of mana he has give to his spells.

  • His abilities cool downs are increased by about 40% (some more some less) doubling the cool down for his W but adding the effect that you can reduce its cool down each time an enemy is marked with flux

  • In his stats for each ability, they scale less off AP and more off mana (about a 20%-40% reduction to ap and a 100- 150% increase in damage form mana).

  • Have his abilities use a % of his mana rather then a set amount. it can scale up as the abilities get more points.

  • Add this to his passive- Ryze's abilities cause more damage the more mana he has. Subsequently, as he uses mana, his spells loose power. Ryze's abilities begin to loose effective ness when he is below 70% mana, to a maximum of 30%, losing 1% of there damage per % lost after 70% to a maximum of minus 40%

What this does. It makes him a mana monster again. Hard hitting and scaling off the mana items you build. By making his spells use a % of his mana, he uses more late game and less early game. His heals from UNIQUE Passive: Eternity are increased late game and the increased cool downs to spells makes it so he wount be healing 10% of his hp once every 1.5 seconds or less, with 40% cdr. He is power full in a fight but looses some of that power as the fight drags on.

Honestly we may see the rebirth of tank Ryze.

These are just ideas. I know people all have Ideas what they may like to see. and i know they probably have something in mind and he has been a bit over reworked, (still waiting on WuKong personally) but they need to decide in my opinion, what he is. I'd find him more interesting and probably play him like this.

I miss the mana monster.

Ps - missing the catch up exp in the games that don't start well, pretty hard. Having the better fed jungler right now is more impact-full then before. And if you have to play catch up, you can only play for late game and its pretty miserable. Still winnable with clever play, but miserable.

How about we make flux not bounce? Ever. Single target spell, along with Q.

No way to deal brainless AoE damage that Ryze never needed in the first place.

Having his mana costs scale is a good idea, though.

Read your post and could only see "deal more damage" everywhere, whilst you said it yourself, he already deals too much damage. You're increasing his CDs, but buffing his damage even more, that's not gonna solve anything.
