Vel'koz changes.

I play Vel'koz a lot. In fact, He's my most played champion.

I was really excited for the mage updates...but I am now instead, dissapointed.

It seemed Riot's intention for Vel'Koz was to bring the theme of his character into his kit. This seemed really cool when I first heard it! But looking at the changes that were released today, all Riot did was nerf his basic kit and make his ult pretty much broken..

I'm really upset that not only does he still need to have the enemy cc'ed for his W to do any type of damage, (since they could just walk out) but now it does significantly less damage too! How is Vel'koz supposed to clear waves? Spam Q because it refunds _half _ the mana now?.. His E also got it's AP ratio reduced, making wave clear even more difficult. It feels like he's just being pushed into the Support role to just Spam Q as much as possible and click R in a teamfight.

I really would like the balance to return to his kit. I feel like a balanced champion infinitely outweighs a champion who "although sucks, can do that one thing that makes them stupidly OP."

Hope others feel the same way.

Velkoz

I was really confused with the direction. They said they wanted to fit his theme better and have more of a focus on his "geometry" stuff, now it seems like he's just moved onto being "The true damage mage"

Q refunds 50% cost per unit killed, up to 150% as you can kill 3 minions with one Q.

They added a 40% ap ratio to his passive. His W ratio was lowered from 25%/37.5% >>> 15%/25%, that is a drop of 22.5% per w. His wave clear combo, w w, then only loses 5% scaling. The base damage was not changed either so his wave clear was not gutted, it was barely touched.

His basic combo, q e w, has slightly less scaling but does more true damage. His E ratio was lowered from 50% >>> 30%, so he lost 42.5% magic damage scaling but that combo procs his passive once gaining him 40% true damage scaling. That is only a lose of a 2.5% ap ratio.

Additionally that combo leaves the enemy with 2 stacks of his passive so you can proc it again with your second w. This extended combo increases his scaling and his true damage. It's a drop of 22.5% magic damage scaling and an increase of 40% true damage scaling.

If you are having a hard time hitting both parts of his W consider building a Rylai's mid game. It doesn't do much for his Q and E but makes his W amazing and his ult will slow more.

His ult does less damage until late game unless you get the true damage research part of it in which case it depends on how much mr your enemy has.

His ult had its ratio increased by 40% and its base damage increased by 50 damage per rank but no longer procs his passive damage. His ult applies 1.66 procs of his passive currently so I am using 1.66 x passive damage as the damage he lost on his ult.

At lv 6 he lost 91.1 true damage, he needs 227.75 ap to make up for that damage, but if you proc the researched part then the 550 base damage is changed into true damage. For the old damage to be more then the new damage, assuming 0 ap and them being researched, the enemy needs to have less then 18% damage reduction, 25 mr is 20% damage reduction, as all champions have a base of at least 30 mr you will always do more damage with the new ult. This is lowballing it too as you will have some ap at lv 6.

At rank 3 ult, lv 18, he lost 190.3 true damage, he needs 475.75 ap to make up for that damage and he will have more then that at full build so it is already a buff. The same process as above applies but now you have ap and the enemy has more mr so even before 475.75 ap anyone you get the researched debuff on will take way more damage then they would currently.
