Teemo: What is his role/identity and how can we address his Toxic game play?

This is a thread dedicated to Teemo

**First off, I would like to see new splash art and character changes for Teemo **

Since season 4 came into play, Teemo has no identity and no role design. He has become a gimmick champion and most cases a troll champion. This is very negative for the community as he is a champion adored by some and hated by others. The people who like him is for what he is; yoddle, cute?, etc. The reason why he is hated is the toxic game play and overall poor game style as it takes a master to play him with team mates.

Teemo was/is viewed as a split pusher, mainly using his toxic game play with mushrooms as a way to split push lanes. However, with the amount of mobility in the game and top players have learn to deal with split pushers and he has more counters because of his weak defense, Teemo just doesn't fit a single role in this game because other champions does his role better but are also able to assist in team fights. Examples of better team fight split pushing top champions: Singed , Tryndamere , Nidalee , Riven , Shyvana .

What do all these champions have in common? They have survivability and can be turn into solid tanks/bruisers for their team (excluding Tryndamere who just wont die for 5 seconds while he destroys squishy champions.)

So what should Teemo role be?

If you go off what Teemo back story is aka Lore and overall game play, he should become a Jungler. With the new changes happening in season 5, aka smite being able to be used on champions with X effect, this is a great role for him to move into. Teemo needs to be changed into an assassin base champion, over a marksmen champion. This idea would be great as he could be one of the few range assassins in the game and with a REWORK of his abilities, he could do great in the jungle.

Idea's for ability changes

Blind needs to go from the game, it is basically a useless CC that really only tunnels down a single small group of champions, similar to how "silence" is being removed from the game as it is just a broken mechanic for a cc. With that said, lets dive into a new ability for his Q>W>E>R>Passive

Mushroom Toss: Teemo throws a large mushroom from his pack that explodes dealing magic damage and slowing targets hit by the mushroom by 50%. Radius 300, CD 10 seconds or something like 12/11/10/9/8 seconds. Costs Mana. This would be good as it gives a soft CC and is a skill shot base attack. Would help him gank and clear jungle. I used the same concept of his R, but gave it purpose in a fight other than being used as a passive tool.

Nimble Feet: Teemo ignores unit collision, activate gives him 50% movement speed. No cost for mana, 10 Second CD.

Assault from the Bush: Teemo throws out 3 bushes in front if him (600-800 range) and is able to dart from one bush to another unseen, Attacking from the bush gives him 60/70/80/90/100% crit chance on his first attack per bush. The bushes will give fog of war for his allies. Wards that the bushes fall on will still show the champions inside. Bushes will be 300 radius wide and gives his team vision where they land. (Teemo Can uses these bushes to dart over walls/cliffs/or other solid objects such as J4 Ult to get out or in for example) Costs Mana. Bushes last for 3-4 seconds.

Poison Dart Barrage: Teemo Sprays poison darts in a cone for 3 seconds (Range 650). He is able to move while using this ability. The poison darts deal physical damage and the poison effect lowers his enemy's damage by 15/20/25% for 2 seconds. (if hit by ability for the full 3 seconds, max duration of poison is 5 seconds of reduce damage dealing. Pressing R again will stop the attack. 120/110/100 second cd, costs Mana.

Passive; Pick your Poison: Teemo deals bonus effects with his attacks based on what ability he just used. His Q will give him bonus magic damage for each auto attack for 3 seconds, his W will give him armor and magic resistance based on level for 3 seconds, his E will cause his target to bleed for 2 seconds dealing physical damage over the duration; lasts for 3 seconds, his R will combine all 3 poisons for 3 seconds, will put the others on cd for 3 seconds after the ultimate is finished or stopped.

What is your opinion of Teemo and any suggestions for this champion? Do you like my suggestions (rework idea)? Do you think he is a solid champion and doesn't need adjustment? If you reworked him, what would you do?

Sorry I snickered, He's a champion that uses poison so your choice of words was funny.

Teemo seems like he should be more suited to jungle. His kit should transform him to hunting in the jungle (heck that is where his lore puts him most times). He should be about trapping and creating new poisons. Maybe his passive should be a special poisons he gets when he kills certain jungle monsters. Kill the wight? Get a vampirism style poison that leeches health to him as he hits a target. Hit the golems? A slowing poison. Kill the frog in the new map? get a stronger poison effect.

Teemo's niche is THE trap champion. No way that's going to change.

Besides losing the blind and giving him a buff elsewhere to compensate (Blind really is lame), Teemo is fine IMO. He's just leagues punching bag, but he's hardly overbearing. His traps aren't even that painful anymore.

Not even once you mentioned the thing he really excells at and that is:

Map and objective control.

He is the single best champion at that, with his mushrooms spread out around vital spots of the map - not only he can place more of them than wards, but also they deal damage, weakening all enemies that want to contest those place (be it dragon, baron, turrets or even buffs). Also, it is extremely helpful in creating picks, because of the vision and slow it provides.

As for toxicity of his kit - I don't believe it's a real problem. Single mushrooms are not a problem, and there is plethora of tools to use when you want to clear high-priority areas.

  1. Vision wards - not much explanation needed. Gives vision of his mushrooms in decent area, preferably used whenever you want to contest any objective or when you want to get rid of mushrooms in the bushes.
  2. Sweeping Lens - best used during actual fights with Teemo, to make sure you can avoid the mushrooms (without his mushrooms, he isn't a real threat in 1v1 against most champions). Also, it disables the shrooms, making them useless for the duration. Later on it's upgraded into
  3. Oracle Lens - extremely potent counter to Teemo shrooms. Not only it reveals and disables any mushrooms you use it on - it also gives you True sight for next 10 seconds, which you should use to clean up vital spots around the objective you want to contest.
  4. Oracle's Extract/The Lightbringer/Hextech Sweeper - used as counter to Teemo on other maps than SR - but I barely play on other maps, so I can't tell you how effective they are.

Outside of his shrooms, his kit is really nothing grand. A blind, which is a CC that somewhat counters ADCs gives him a bit of utility and duel potential (not that much) as well as mediocre burst. His W is a powerful movement speed steroid, but it's still nothing compared to what other champions get as their mobility spells. And his E is just your standard on-hit steroid.

But, Teemo does have some issues...

That is his model and VO. He got literally 10 lines of text and his model looks outdated. I don't really understand why he didn't get upgraded yet, because while there are champions that look and sound even more outdated than him (not as much as you would think, though) - they aren't as popular as him (through love or hate, doesn't matter), especially outside of lol community. Hell, I will even go as far and call him a League of Legends mascot character (along with Katarina and Ryze).

Also, his spell icons are hideous and the voice over lines that he have don't fit his lore or character at all.
