This can be used exactly for normals.
No, it cannot because:
How is trying something new fun for others?
It's fun when they are also focused on fun and not just winning the match at all costs.
Haven't you ever been in a normal match where someone said at the start:
"First time (insert champion). Hope I won't feed too much."
Then the others reply with:
"No worries, dude."
Or are all your teams like:
"Oh god, fk you! I need to win!"
What do you want to try in normals that you can't in your beloved rankeds?
You can try new things in ranked, but that's not the point.
Ranked is where it matters more for everyone you're playing with. It's not fair to them to jeopardize your team's chance at winning and potentially cost them LP because you refused to practice in a casual mode first.
If you don't know a champ, go to botgames. You will learn the mechanics. When you know them, go to ranked.
I go to co-op first when trying something new, then normals.
Why?
You can only practice so much against the predictable and weaker AI. Learning how to position and react to real player actions with the champion's kit you're practicing is very important and cannot be attained in co-op.
I could play Lee Sin in co-op and go 25/0/10, but that kind of KDA doesn't immediately translate to PvP.
