In all honesty, I don't think the damage nerf is too bad. The base damage at level 6 will be 210 (down from 270). Im sure we will start seeing more Luden's in place of Rylai's to make up for the dmg loss. Has anyone tested it?

Mogarl2 votesI'm not a fan of Syndra, but it would be silly to say that those nerfs weren't serious. Mages like Syndra don't exist in the same family of mages like 
, and is much more like 
. Syndra has a single ability with hard cc attached and does damage with everything else. These mages zone people with damage (very similar to assassins) and use it as their primary tool of interaction. it's because of this that they became some of the most abusive with Rylai's. It is also the reason why nerfs to their damage are much more potent than on .
in essence nerfed for damage still have a lot of crowd control to be useful. 
nerfed for damage are incapable of doing anything useful for their team (comparatively to other mages).
AcidTheWarlock1 votesAt least Brand actually is good at making picks. E+Q is a quick, easy setup that means your teammates can follow up.
Gravity Field is pretty unreliable without Rylai's and with mobility creep, and Syndra's E+Q is pretty nasty to hit unless you're really good.
Mogarl1 votesYou are correct that Viktor has the softest cc, but I still place gravity field fairly high up just because of how long it lasts. Brand can stun one person Syndra's can be avoided by paying attention to where she is and where her spheres are (although it can be near impossible if she places a sphere and knocks it imediately). Viktor can still do all the work without ever touching an enemy with gravity field, but can't really make picks with it. Hence his heavy use of Rylai's.

Ive nearly killed a few syndras who would have died with ludens but survived after panic casting all their spells because of rylai's health.

Thats the thing about Syndra. She is very vulnerable and if she gets out of position you can easily take her out. She has always been that way. Rylais has always been situational for Syndra, because of her W making it almost inpossible to miss a Q. Everyone just abused Rylais because of how powerful it is. Syndra will still be strong, and people will still complain. All that changed now is she will have to Q a few times before she ults.

Shes not easy to take out with Rylai's. She also almost always trade kills by just panic spamming her spells and ult. In my experience, even small nerfs like these seem small but then always hit far harder than they look on paper. What seems like a measly 60 dmg ends up being far worse than you think. Happens everytime you see champ get a few nerfs on their skills.
