Tahm Kench is very overloaded, but not many complain about him

Even when he was strong, the complaints were that he is overtuned ("walking ball of stats"), not overloaded.

He has a 3 hit passive that allows you to either stun or be eaten (suppress?), a shield that can be used to heal instead, and a long range teleport with another allied champion.

Hell yeah annie isn't overloaded, she's broken. She stuns you and one hits you with tibbers whose move speed and manage are broken as hell.

yeah The sack of meat needs to be nerfed.

ok if you think he needs be nerfed whatever but thats not what overloaded means.

He definitely has a lot going on in his kit. Isn't that what overloaded means?

And I'm not making this thread because I don't like TK. I'm making this thread because I think simply being overloaded is not a problem when it comes to balance.

Overloaded is when every ability has multiple uses.

  • Tahm Kench's Stun/Consume is his locked behind his passive, making it roughly on par with Nautilus's or Braum's passive. They moved his %health damage here too, but that's also comparable to Nautilus.
  • His Q is a ranged slow, exactly like Braum's
  • His E is a shield with a regeneration passive if it's not used
  • His R only moves people

His W is the only ability that comes close to being overloaded, being a way to shoot ranged damage, a way to move allies, and if used with your passive a way to move and damage enemies. This one ability you could argue is overloaded, but certainly not the champion as a whole.

Thresh is one of the go-to examples of an overloaded kit. He's got a displacement on Flay (which gives him an auto attack buff for some reason?), a way to move allies (which also shields them for some reason?), and the hook can be used to selectively engage (or run away if used on a jungle camp).

Would Sion be a better example then? Note that my point is that overloaded doesn't necessarily mean problematic or overpowered.

His Q is a slow or stun, W is an infinite scaling HP with %HP nuke, E is a slow and armor shred with extended range when used on minions, and R is either a cross-map engage or escape. His passive is a semi-revive that gives him a new spell, attack speed, and massive lifesteal. Yet, he's not considered OP or broken.

Am I just misunderstanding what "overloaded" meas, or am I right in that overloaded doesn't necessarily mean OP/broken/problematic/unbalanced?

Sion is just "eh" overloaded. A good example of overloaded kits are Ekko & Fiora.

Ekko (pre-nerfed) Passive - 3 hits on minions/monsters for bonus damage & slow, champions for bonus damage, slow & movement speed Q - Damages & slows on first direction, damages more on 2nd direction. Also applies passive. W - An unnecessary passive, Aoe slow, and if touched, stuns people & gives shield. **E - ** Dash & damage, applies passive, applies on-hit & on-spell. **R - ** Teleports back to hologram, damages enemies, applies passive & involves A FUCK TON OF MATH.

Fiora Passive - Vital placing which deals true damage & heals, and more maths. Q - Dashes, affects Vital, applies on-hit, reduced CD on kills, an escape. W - Blocks ALL damage & slows, stuns if affected by CC. E - Resets AA timer, 1st slows, 2nd guaranteed critical strike. R - Vitals on all position, grants AoE healing (for some goddamn reason) if target killed or all Vitals hit.

Skirmishers in general have overloaded kits with few exceptions, imo. Tryndamere and Jax are the ones that aren't overloaded but still considered skirmishers. And quite a few people complain about Tryndamere.

I think you're miss understanding what overloaded means, but I think you've got a better grasp of it after BeatzBoy's post.

Because he's fucking horrible right now.

He's still quite well done, reasonable trade-offs for his very powerful strengths. If only Riot pulled him out of the gutter.

50000000000000001 votes

Even when he was strong, not many people complained that he's overloaded. It was mostly that he's overtuned.

Big Lincoln1 votes

Nobody really cares about 'overloaded' anyway. It's only when they're disgustingly mobile on top of having a lot of tools at their disposal.

Tahm is very easy to disengage from in teamfights (not so much 1v1), so it wasn't really an issue.

Probably because Tahm isn't overloaded.

KraDEsluP2823 votes

that's because he's rarely played anymore, atleast for me. I've seen more yoricks than tahm kench's.

Because he's weak as shit right now.

He's very niche dude, he's all about being an annoying damage sponge and protecting the carry. Personally I don't think he provides as much to the team as other supports like Zyra , Taric , Soraka Janna Nasus and Thresh but he functions really well if you can exploit his niche.

Kench is currently not broken and in a pretty stable place. Only the lowest of the intelligent will have severe problems with him. He has a lot in his kit, yes, but he's by no means overloaded at the moment. His passive stacks his Acquired Taste, and deals bonus damage based on stacks. His Q is a slow, or a stun, based on stacks. His W is a suppress based on stacks, or a meat shield for allies. His E is phantom health that is accrued by damage, and it heals him a portion of what is taken or he can consume it for a shield. His R is a long distance teleport, that can't be used while he's being attacked, and other people can tag along. His skills can be wordy, but they're not overloaded, and he plays fairly simply - stack 3 passives, then stun and eat. Or eat allies, run away. He doesn't have free stats balled up into his passive, a free shield that instantly recharges, free armor pen hidden in his kit, hidden DoTs, hyper mobile stuns that also have speed steroids, or anything like that. You may think he's overloaded, but you're sadly mistaken. He's good at 2 things - eating allies to safety, and not dying instantly. He's not this versatile insano champion like Yasuo, Kalista, Riven, or Camille.

In no way is he stable. Only dumbasses think him being able to eat you and do near half hp damage is stable. As a tank he is nearly unkillable and with deadman's plate can get away easily.

Keep telling yourself that meta sheep. Listen the dude is broken and is in no way stable. Just because you main him doesn't mean you are right and aren't biased. I have seen him rekt people with the right build.

Listen Circler jerker, Yasuo is meant to kill, kench is designed to tank. When Yasuo was doing a shit ton of damage with a tank build, guess what happened? He got nerfed. Kench is building tank and with his kit is near unkillable doing shit tons of damage.

Kench is not doing "shit tons of damage" unless you are super squishy and not trying to get away from him.

For starters, Devour does not deal near half HP. It deals 32% max HP at max level, and to do more, he'd had to build pure AP. The only way Devour is dealing that 32% max HP damage to you is if you're sitting there and letting him get his stacks on you. If you are not playing cat and mouse and regulating how many stacks you are allowing him to stack on you, you are playing against him completely wrong. You can't just let him auto you all day, eat you, and then scream "Ermagahd he borken as fuk" if you don't take efforts to keep the stacks off. This holds true for many champions, such as Braum, Vel'Koz, Darius, Fiora, Nidalee, Quinn, and more.

As for getting away easily, do you even know how Deadman's Plate works? It requires him to move, and any CC will peel it off. If he's at the point where he needs to run, it will not help him because you will kill him before he can get away. How many games have you ever seen where it's been like "Man, if that Tahm Kench didn't have the Dead Man's Plate, I could have caught him?" I've been in none, and if I get caught as him, it's incredibly hard to get away without blowing Flash. This point you make is just utterly wrong.

As for seeing him "rekt people with the right build," I can say the same for literally any champion. I've seen Soraka clean house with the right build.

And again, Tahm does not do shit tons of damage unless you sit there and let him. Yasuo got his balls kicked in when he was running tank builds because he literally had to buy 3 items and then all tank items and he could shred anyone without remorse without needing any kind of caveat to do it. He had double crit, innate armor pen that got stripped down real fast when they nerfed it, and he was highly mobile, has Windwall, and a built in shield and knock up for doing nothing but moving. Kench, on the other hand, is required to AA you 3 times or Q you to make the most of Q and W, and he can't even use Q if he had to blow it to get a stack on you. He's hard to kill, yes. But he is highly immobile, and he is inefficient at chasing. Comparing a truly overloaded champion going in a completely cheese build like Tank Yasuo against Kench is like comparing a 3 year old to a high schooler. Seriously, you need to reevaluate what you know about the game if you consider Kench an overloaded monster right now. His time has come and gone, so stop remembering 2 years ago and look at him now.
