Why ELO/MMR ruins games and prevents people from bettering theirself as a player.

In ranked this system is totally understandble.

However, let's get to normal games (where more 65% of summoners rift games are probably played.)

1.) ELO/MMR matches you with people equal to what the player understands of the game. There is no chance of being matched with someone whom can help you significantly unless it's the obvious smurf but lets face it, who cares about anything on a smurf?

2.) Half the time, yes even ranked you get paired with people whom are playing champs for the first time, are just the below average player, or are trolls (esp in lower ELO/MMR)

3.) I'm not saying abandon the system, the system is fine. Abandon the system in normal games, not ranked q. In the end the greater result should end up in the majority of LoL community becoming better. I imagine if the tribunal was still in place that number would be better. We know what kind of people of shouldn't be on yours/our team.

the problem with this theory is i imagine games becoming like this

1 plat 2 golds 2 silvers

at that point it would just become which team has the better player as the plat player then gets flamed by elo players going "OMG LOL I CANT BELIEVE THIS GUY IS IN PLAT"

let's face it the majority of the guys who are trapped in low elo, are trapped in low elo because they are flaming jerks who refuse to take responsibility for their own actions.

That's what normal games are already like though. What OP is suggesting is more: 2 Bronze 2 Silver 1 Gold+

Every single game, because that's the population demographic. With the occasional unfortunate RNG fest with 4 high elo players and a bronze player.

When I was bronze I played against silvers. When I'm silver I play golds. It's annoying. Fine for normals where I'm playing to learn, but when I'm playing for elo everyone seems to always be a few ranks above me.

This means the system thinks you are gold. Either you really are gold and you are going to shoot up due to high mmr and lp gains or you are silver and and going to lose a bunch of games until the system figures out you are silver.

At least the guy playing champions for the first time might know how to play his role correctly.

Can't say I see too many people with their main doing the same. >_>

Wait just reread this, Wtf do you mean abandon the system in normal games? How the fuck else are you supposed to match people up? randomly? based on the first 10 people it finds? That just going to result in a lot of one sided game because 2 diamonds skill level wise against 5 bronze skill level regardless of if any of them play ranked or not. You have to match people up based on skill.

Also to get better its a lot easier to just look up videos on how to get better (phylol for example) or read guides (a lot have basic game knowledge in them as well) than to try and learn from people in game. The chat is limited and 9 times out of 10 a better player isnt in the mood to be coaching others, they would rather just play a norms.
