Why did Riot's stance change?

So for a long time people complained about how the throw is stronger than the carry in solo Q; I think most of us would say that's still the case. But back in the day Riot's go to response was that LOL is intended to be a 5v5 team game, and as such is not supposed to be a game where a person can 1v9 carry.

I think it's pretty clear that over the past couple seasons they've strayed from that belief somewhat. I mean, we've kinda been creeping in that direction for a while now, but it's really obvious this season. So why? Why are they suddenly promoting individual champions snowballing like crazy through the early into the mid game? So much so that it's kind of the pro meta too, not just a solo Q thing?

Probably because they feel it is more fun that you are able to put the entire team on your back and carry them when you do well as opposed to doin well and just being shit out of luck.

just had a game where i the support and my duo adc could not carry the game. we stomped are lane hard. we were so ahead it was disgusting.. but our ally yasuo was borderline iron and was the sole reason we lost. he fed the enemy adc we put so far behind :/ thanks bud. she then continued to one shot everyone.

Why didn't their stance change? It doesn't effect income.
