Let me just stand way in the back with my low cooldowns and poke your adcs half health bar with an easy as fuckk skill shot, stun any one who comes thru the jungle and slow them with my aoe damage.

ideally anyone with cc and poke can work as a support, ahri, lissandra, syndra, the best three being brand, vel koz and lux, but the reason u don't do it is for it's simply better to have them in the mid so they can carry you.

There are significant trade-offs for that. Xerath requires levels to increase his base damage, and his poke is not that strong early on without those levels or a significant amount of AP.

Just a suggestion for counterplay: Standing behind minions will force him to push the lane to you if he wants to poke, giving you more influence over the lane overall and making the opposing laners weaker to ganks.

the the problem with xerath bot is if u miss e into any champs with engage u gonna die its not just spam, xerath is in a pretty shit spot due to mobility creep

As soon as something engages that duo of ADC/Supp!Xerath, they just have to cry and run and hope Xerath stuns something. Meanwhile, once lane phase is over Xerath is just as squishy as he's always been. He's not like Brand either, who puts you out if you're near teammates, so he's really low-risk to face.

If I saw someone doing a Xerath support, I'd probably run a Leona or a Nautilus, something that forces the fight down the enemy's throat. Meanwhile, I'd keep my ADC on point to stay behind me and let me body block stuns and be the target for q/w/r. Of course, because they lack a tank element, I can just force myself to be the survival of my lane, force the fight onto the Xerath/ADC, and pave it for my ADC. If I die a couple times so be it; if we push Xerath down three or four deaths as a support he's fucked. Royally.

Mage supports are cool but if they fall behind... hoooo boy, is that some dead weight. Brand commands AoE and Malzahar has his 'u ded' button, but Xerath is a lot more conventional.

I'd be more scared if you said Ahri. Not as bad on the poke but try engaging into her Charm beside a Caitlyn or so...
