Why are You buffing Thresh more?

ACENOX··51 votes·3,995 views

"Thresh gains 2 souls from epic monsters"

this may be a small buff, but what triggers me is that THRESH ISN'T THAT WEAK, he may be weak but NOT THAT weak, there are a hundred thousand champs that need buff before him.

so why?

When was the last time he was a popular LCS pick?

ACENOX6 votes

i think he means that because riot wants him to be picked in the lcs.

Then wouldn't they give him a buff that actually did something?

No idea why the fuck Thresh is getting buffed. Guys in a perfectly balanced if not overloaded kit state

Exactly. He's one of the better balanced champs. He's never useless due to his cc and utility. And if he gets insanely fed he's still useful but not overbearing. He's great where he is.

This explains his near 0% pick/ban rate in competitive this split (I put in the "near" just in case, but I honestly can't think of a single game I've seen him in). Everyone who ever said "no matter the numbers, Thresh's kit is overloaded and he will always be OP" should be lining up to apologize to Riot and admit they were wrong, but instead they're here in this thread saying that a champion even Aphromoo can't make effective is "perfectly balanced".

Thresh is being buffed because he doesn't do as much for your team as most support champions you could pick. Partly because there is no mastery this season that fits his kit, partly because none of the support items really fit him well (enjoy spending all your flay charges trying to last hit with a half-functioning relic shield? No? Then have a coin that's lost the MS that was actually really good for him) and partly because one of the main unique things he did, bring allies across walls even if they have no wallhop of their own, Bard does better while also being a healer, dealing more damage and having an ult that not only doesn't require committing suicide, it can actually make plays from way outside Thresh's range.

And wrecked shop with him. Practically handed the win to his team.

Pls note that it is just my theory, it pobably doesn't have anything to do with upcoming Thresh buffs.

Dark Star Thresh is disabled which means people won't be eager to buy new skin, so they have to do something in order to maintain interest in this skin next patch. Thus they are buffing him, so people willing to spend money on league might consider buying it because the champion will become more reliable next patch with such buff.

Is getting 2 souls from the Baron or Dragon really qualify as a buff? They're on such long timers as it is that this won't really swing the game. It's more of a novelty and tiny reward for helping secure objectives than anything else. So stop yer complaining.

Just saying how people complained about vaynes 3ad... It's nothing new people would complain over 6 extra souls a game with this buff

It's a support focused Update. All the other supports are getting buffed as well, so giving him some small love taps in that direction isn't uncalled for.

I wouldnt really call them buffs

Thresh, while certainly viable, isn't really that strong right now. This bugg will largely go unnoticed.

I feel like there are more worthwhile things to question. Yes there are other champions who need help more, but that shouldn't exclude thresh from getting possible help he needs in a patch aimed at supports.

SlampieceHawke5 votes

You do know that update is not for summoners rift, right? >.>

ACENOX5 votes

are you high? http://www.surrenderat20.net/2016/06/620-pbe-update.html

thresh :Damnation (Passive) epic monsters now give Thresh two souls instead of one.

Shyvauni1 votes

If you look that is specifically under the ARAM howling Abyss section of the updates, oddly enough separated from the non Aram Champion updates.

ACENOX5 votes

No, this is in the summoner rift, like vlad passive nerf.

Pope Glitterhoof1 votes

The buff you mentioned is already patched for 6.12, but the one everyone in this thread has mentioned is taken directly from PBE... (namely Surrender at 20)

Read the thread first and do some research before jumping to conclusions.

Shyvauni1 votes

I read the thread and unless Riot decides to announce it as coming past the PBE I choose to see it as a non factor as many things change in the PBE and many things never make it out of the PBE. Please go back to every PBE changelog and see how much of that has ever made it into the game before assuming it is the end of the world!

Pope Glitterhoof3 votes

Your backtracking is hilarious.

I read this entire comment chain of yours and you just called OP a troll for stating a fact, which you misunderstood as buffs for Thresh in ARAM, and now you try to defuse this embarrassing moment by stating you did read and understand the thread correctly, which happened to be the contrary.

Anyways, it's great that you finally come to terms that you initially read this entire thread wrong. On a side note,

{quoted}

I choose to see it as a non factor as many things change in the PBE and many things never make it out of the PBE.

I am well aware of that, but the Gameplay Board is a place for people to discuss any (and I mean any) potential balance changes and policies they are rolling out (or not). It doesn't matter whether or not it will or will not make it to the game. No one is forcing you to agree with these people.

Please go back to every PBE changelog and see how much of that has ever made it into the game before assuming it is the end of the world!

Moreover, never did I express my stance on this particular Thresh buff anyhow. Stop assuming.

SlampieceHawke1 votes

spare me. Yall act like thresh is OP right now and that this is going to put him over the top. Keep dreaming.

Dengeden4 votes

Because looking at winrates, he is weak?

Voluug134 votes

And one of the most played champions at all levels?

Dengeden3 votes

Yeah? So? Can't exactly force people into what they should consider fun or meta.

Niaphim4 votes

Playrate this high justifies his winrate, he doesn't need buffs. Also, no need to buff a champ that is already fun to play in this case, he can simply become overbearing.

EddardStark843 votes

{quoted}

And one of the most played champions at all levels?

Because he's fun to play. Just like Lee Sinn.

Voluug131 votes

Not saying he cant be?

my point is that high playrate/popularity often gives a champion low-ish winrate, due t the people playing it for it being FotM/meta/whatever and not knowing well the champ (or expecting to do well with no experience).

manbearswine3 votes

Cause lc$bigplays+winrates=variety.

This is a ridiculously small buff, and I literally lol'ed at "hundred thousand champs".

Apocalypsic2 votes

This is about as much a buff as the yi movement speed dance increase...

QjTHqo3RTq2 votes

We're talking the difference of maybe 3-8 souls, its true that Thresh is in an acceptable spot, its not like this buff is exactly great, or barey even worthwhile

R FLASH XD2 votes

He's weak dude. Don't mind me I'm bad at lying.

General Esdeath 2 votes

How many epic monsters will thresh's team kill? A max of 5, and don't forget he gets 0 armor per level.

statelesskiller2 votes

im actually wondering if this might be bad for thresh. like it seems like a buff on the shorthand but like the sudden burst of souls will make the game rng you less souls in the long term from the random creeps that die

Blåbæret2 votes

In what world is Tresh weak?

Cloud2731 votes

It doesn't even make sense. How can a creature have more than one soul?

Jofeyy1 votes

What support needs a buff more than him? (Want to know your opinion.)

ACENOX5 votes

Zilean is never picked in the lcs as a support Blitzcrank same here

at best they are on the same lvl of thresh, which means that they need buffs.

HCN INS1 votes

I dont think these 2 are great comparisons. Blitz was first thought to be a toplaner and just shifted to being a support as he shines a lot more there. He actually shines so damn hard in support that his DQ winrate has never fallen bellow 52% I believe which they also have to consider.

So why did I mention him being a toplaner at the start? The same goes for Zilean. Zilean was a support at first but shifted to being more of a midlaner and now has to be considered as such. He is a midlaner - one with a pretty good record.

HCN INS1 votes

I dont really share his oppinion. Supports that actually (considering winrate and the sorts) need a buff would be Tahm and Nunu.

Friendly Ram1 votes

so jungle thresh new meta?

DarkRitual2 votes

Not really, Epic being only Dragons, Baron, and Rift Herald. (also Vilemaw)
