I only based on math. I didn't look into the rework because I didn't really have interest in Ryze to begin with.

RiotRepertoir's reasoning was basically he wanted to change the convention on that and thought it'd make more sense to have just two versions of the ult: one for early game, one for mid-late game.

He's pretty cool right now; passive on lvl 6 Q gives him a 50% MS buff + Shield for 2 seconds, so long as you're willing to sacrifice some DPS.

By the time Ryze fully maxes his ult, there is no lane phase anyway, so his "bot lane shenanigan" is kinda pointless

i hope you are joking because you can very much camp gank bot like this especially with the jungler, These are very safe dives. You have to ignore bot lane and jungle to assume mid will just gank you alone. A simple Taric or sona stun buys ryze the time to land behind you and snare you or worse a blitz or tresh pull\hook will get you killed with ease.

the ult pretty much requires him to be bot lane already, so it's no different than any other gank, it's not an easy one like TF

However, you can get around wards with it pretty well.

it does; cc'ing ryze also cancels it. Feels a bit like Taric ult where, yes, it's very powerful, but the innate counterplay means it's much more manageable in game.

Hey, it does go up with level, but it maxes at nowhere near lane ganking potential. For reference, Ryze will max at 3000 units of distance. Tahm Kench starts at 4000, and maxes at 6000. Ryze can certainly reposition more units, but his bot lane ganking potential is nonexistent, especially since the range of his TP when ganking bot would be only 1500, which will get you from the dragon pit to maybe the bot side tri-bush. By the time he makes it to the tri-bush, you should most likely be able to run away or react on account of how much effort it would take him to get there.

I don't have to have a PBE account to know that the effort it takes him to gank bottom lane is considerably more than using Teleport to pop up in the bushes due to him having to travel from top lane, where if your team has vision as they should, the bot laner should be able to easily see when Ryze and or/the enemy team is coming. The set up for his ult to pull off a 5 man bot gank takes more effort than for 3 opponents to use Teleport to a ward in a bush. So while he can gank bot lane, he doesn't have the surprise factor going like the Teleport summoner spell currently has.

Again, if you're playing utterly blind, this is a problem. However, if your team is warding, you can tell when this might happen.

Well the point of your argument was to say that with ryze mid its going to be a clown fiesta in bot because of his ult. But by the time his ult get to a long enough range to effectively roam, usually rank 2, laning phase will be mostly over. So there won't be much of window for him to pressure bot with his ult. It will be much more effective to use it in lane to escape or close the gap for a kill. 1500 range is pretty short. Bout the range of a max range nid spear. Think about Tahms Ult and how it's utilized early. It really isn't and i think well find Ryzes ult to be a more mid to late game rotation/re-positioning tool.
