Getting both Trinity Force and Black Cleaver

Is getting both trinity force and black cleaver viable? The rage passive of course doesn't stack, but the items both bring a whole lot more to the table than just that rage passive.

Just got done playing a game as jungle skarner where i bought both and it felt really good. Now it was a normal game, but getting cleaver after having trinity force felt very spikey even without the extra passive benefit.

I normally build tank skarner but I just wanted to try him out as more of a bruiser going Warrior>Swifties>Trinity>Cleaver>ZZ'Rot>Dead Man's Plate

Didnt get the dead mans plate and accidentally ran grasp instead of strength of ages so I wasn't super healthy throughout, had to back off of team fights half way through, but I feel like it could have been viable had I had strength of ages.

Thoughts?

Nothing stops you. It's not necessarily optimal though.

Thinking about it, why not just get trinity's cheaper/defensive version. Iceborn maxes you out CDR, with respectable stats.

The Rage passive is the only thing which doesn't stack.

Considering how much both of those items offer, stacking them isn't a bad idea if you make good use of both,

Felt very good on vi too, actually got to use strength of ages this time. Fed few kills to yi early where he just got good counter ganks, but once I got the black cleaver I took on their team 2 or 3 at a time with success. Wanted to try it with hecarim too, any other champs you could see it working on?

They were both normals of course but did get S+ on both games.

If you're going to build both right after each other, make sure you do so only when fed. I'd probably skip the jungle item enchantment and go straight into probably the triforce, and build a defensive health-based item afterwards unless you are really fed in which case go ahead for the black cleaver. Sterak's might be a better item for 2nd buy for either situation now that i think about it.

I like you have used both on certain champions and it does work. However its more something you do when you are already winning and need the extra armor shred from black cleaver to get through the frontline.

PS: The 30% CDR on this combo is very nice and underappreciated.

40% cooldown reduction with just 2 items with attack damage + hp + the attack speed from TF and the other passives are all very good. If you need CDR and the rest of your items doesn't have it, go for it.

They fit the need for 40% CDR and both can work well on alot of AD bruisers so yes.
