Some changes to make mordekaiser less boring from a 2 million mastery morde one trick

I have come to accept that old morde is gone and so is his ghosts but I just try and try to play the new morde but hes just so boring to play. I think his w and ult needs some changes as they are the main reason hes boring. I propose some changes to make morde feel like this warlord whos slowly building his power overtime just like he is in the lore.

W - New effect: Shield % health now scales with champion level (not ability level) from 5% max health shielding at lv 1 to 30% max health shielding at 16. Now also resets on takedowns.

R - 10% stat steal has been removed. Cooldown changed form 140 / 120 / 100 to 190/ 155/ 120. Ult duration now scales with level from 7 seconds to 5 / 7 / 9 New effect: If mordekaiser kills an enemy in the death realm he permanently gains 1% of their current core stats excluding size. If mordekaiser kills 1 enemy in the death realm, the growth of his power starts and his apperance changes into his headless form permanently.

You're not proposing any gameplay changes though, he'll still remain boring to play. Scaling stat steal is interesting, but since it is based on kills it's a snowball mechanic that hurts more a behind Mordekaiser than it helps a fed one, because you're removing his advantage in the Deaths Realm 1v1 (the 10% stat steal).

My qualms with Mordekaiser are the following:

  • itemization has no variety
  • ult lacks in counterplay department
  • he is very low on button presses: as Morde you use your E to open a fight, you press your shield whenever you're low, your R again is preparation for a fight, and then it's all Auto and Q.

My proposal is splitting his current Q damage a 3-part spell with ramping damage (callback to his old Q) that stops if Morde misses any target, so that if you're in the death realm and you flash let's say his Q2, Mordekaiser has to restart with a lower damage Q1, and not a Q3. Just to add some counterplay to his death realm.

Also I'd make his passive deal more damage the more people are caught in it, so that it can be nerfed for the single target but gives Morde a buff for being in the fray.

Tone down his numbers and how idiot-proof his ult is so morde players actually have to play the game.

That would make him less boring.

I used to be a 1.3 mil mastery morde main before my previous ban (I played morde mainly before mastery was added). I personally dislike the new morde because they took all the uniquity from his kit to just make ap darius with camile ult. Personally I feel that for morde, balance and flavor, they need to rework the passive and w. The passive should still be an aoe, Personally i would love to see maybe a new 3 hit passive but in a nature of after 3 hits it launches scraps of metal (look at glacial augments ground slow from actives for size and speed) that slow and pierce so it can add more emphasis to positioning and not just "MORDE SMASH" like this new morde really pushes for. and the w should be a more reactive shield/heal. Maybe in the nature of a Reposte-Esq where he would block a hit in a small window and gain a shield for it that slowly drains to health, like grey health. I doubt riot or others would like any of these ideas, but morde died in season 9 and making something that is even worthy of his name would be great. No more copy pastes. [sg-shisa]
