Can TF recieve an assist when he reveals invisible opponent with his ultimate?

Well, this is kinda sad. I used to pick Twisted Fate mainly for those 400IQ reveals on Vayne during teamfights, yeah this "counter" won me few teamfights and games years ago. Well... When you used your ult only to help your mate from other side of map, by making his opponent visable during skirmish, you didn't recieve an assist...

Recently I was facing Akali, so I gladly picked my old friend(cause I read patch notes, and I know that she can be now revealed in her smoke-bomb. Be smart guys, read patch notes). Also my duo partner was playing on botlane, so I had great opportunity to play this (forsaken in last few years) champion. Well, and then I remembered that ulting for vision is useful, but not really profitable for me. Can anyone implement this change in game?

For real, I'm only asking for this one change(which is more like quality of life bug-fix than actual buff), even tho Riot should finally treat TF as REAL champion, by buffing/reworking/adding new mechanic/tweaking him or anything? I like him, and he looks balanced, but he's not popular, he's simple and linear. I'm not sure if he is "viable" in actual state of game.

I feel that there are actually only 40 champions(count Little f@%king Legends) in this game. Riot doesn't touch forsaken champions like TwistedFate KogMaw Sion Shaco Anivia Ivern Skarner Viktor Zilean Volibear Malzahar, but patches without Vayne Sylas Irelia Akali Aatrox Kaisa are kinda "wasted" in the eyes of Riot... since 2 seasons. -.-

Seeing as how this actually works with Ashe E and Quinn W, I'm surprised TF doesn't already have this functionality.

However, I'm also curious if Nocturne's ult works the same way, especially since the initial cast is affected by spellshields.
